Title: S-AVP "Out of Service, Remove Ekey"
Post by: Ash100 on March 24, 2020, 09:29:39 AM
Good afternoon,

Got a few S-AVP games in the other day to clean up and refresh but have an issue with the first one.

Game boots and plays fine, but when I insert the Ekey7, it gives a message that says "Out of Service, Remove Ekey".

I can't get into a menu to see game data, etc.

I ran a Diagnostic Key and it went through all of the menus just fine and everything passes the tests.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Curtis ash100

You need to make sure the switch inside the secured usb area is not closed.  Also the belly door switch needs to be open.

Thanks Rick,

I'll check it when I get back from lunch.

It's the little toggle switch behind the secure door? Left or right for the throw?

Appreciate the input.

Not the toggle switch, that is the write protect switch for the NVRAM/HD/Cabinet memory.  Dealers usually install a piece of paper or something into a little area that has a rocker switch on it.  You need to remove that paper.  The mpu door is designed so a cam slides into that area and closes the switch.  For some reason the casinos don't put the cam in the cabinets when they remove the cam lock from the mpu, so a piece of paper stuck into the slot is what I've seen done most commonly.

Thanks Rick.

That was it. Never thought anything about the paper stuck there, my other machine didn't have it, as it still had a complete door assay with the cam installed.

Appreciate your help.

Stay tuned for more issues as I go through the rest of these AVP's.
