Title: Clear opinions

Just searching for opinions here because I've heard so many opinions but never asked the question to the experts. Ram clears are bad? I keep hearing that I should try to avoid ram clears at any cost. Just wondering if this is true and how it changes/affects the machines. Any opinions would be appreciated.

RAM clears are only discouraged for an S2000 because the default settings for that machine requires some changes for it to work stand-alone. All other platforms require it to change games, after a battery change, etc.
