I've got a customer who put his BB2 on a timer so that it comes on for 4 hours every day. It will come on a day or 2 without any problem but then will get a Nvram Battery 2 low message, some times it's battery 1 and other times battery 2. He's changed batteries and also checked batteries (they check out OK). I've offered to replace CPU but was hoping someone knows what's causing this.

Corrections to post. The batteries do show low voltage after a day or 2.

There's a short somewhere on the mpu that is killing the batteries. Replacing the MPU fill fix it. Fixing the MPU will fix it too, but it may cost more to pay someone to fix the short than to get an mpu.
