I am located in Sydney Australia and I'm looking for Clear chips to suit an Olympic gaming machine from around 1995. I have an error message that says "invalid font EPROM" and have read that I require clear chips to clear error. Machine is a "Texas Tea"

Good luck Goldy....this will be a tough one. The game is not popular here at all. Sorry. Wish I had better news. But me awhile, welcome to NewLifeGames.com!

While you are locating a source for the clear chips you could try reseating the socketed chips on that board. One of those 20 year old sockets may have developed a flaky connection with the leg of an eprom and is causing the error you are getting. I'd try pressing down firmly on each chip or remove and reinsert each one carefully. Especially if the machine was working fine at one time, then came up with this error and you didn't have some event that could explain it such as power glitch, electrical storm, etc.
Also, you can try contacting NLG member chemstar. He is familiar with Olympic Gaming machines and has helped with problems in the past on them, including clear chips and manual.

Hey guys thankyou so much for your help on this one. I tried taking EPROMs out and putting back in but still getting same error message. I'll get in contact with your suggestions and see if they can help out. I will also try chemstar and see if he can help out with a manual to see if I can try anything else like a reset or something.i will keep you posted on my progress

I have one left of that clear chip, just found it on Tuesday, better for you im in Canberra. If I can find another ill let you know unless you want to pay to copy it .
-
Thanks heaps SS308. I'm quite happy to pay for a copy of the chip but I have no idea how to do this. I'm in UK at the moment and will be back in Sydney next Wednesday. Have you got blank chips that you could copy to and how much? I can transfer $ into your bank account if you give me details if that's cool. If not I can make the trip to Canberra one weekend, whichever is easier. Thanks again mate. :thank_you:

I cant copy the chip sorry, my burner has shit itself & not too bothered getting another nowdays.
If you like you can come down with your machine & I can do the clear for a case of beer otherwise if you
want to buy it make me a reasonable offer as these machines are few & far between now.
Process is easy you just put the chip in a spare LH socket on the mainboard then power up, it will show an eprom on the top of screen saying RAM cleared, then power down remove clearchip repower up & it's done..
I cannot guarantee the chip if you insert it backwards as it will shit itself & chips fu&%ed.
PM me....
-
Howdy
Did you end up getting it going? If not can you send me a PM interested in the IO card if possible
Cheers
