Title: How do I reverse a bill acceptor motor?
Post by: seth6025 on February 24, 2017, 12:33:27 PM
I got a new motor for a wba acceptor but it is spinning in the wrong direction. If it was on the other side it would work great. How can I reverse this one. I tried cutting the wires and switching them but it would not cycle at all after that.

Sounds like you didn't get the correct motor.

Do they have a contact number or email for support? Was there not any paperwork with the motor with wiring instructions?

I will try emailing them.No instructions its just 2 wires with a plug on the end. I figured a dc motor should be able to be reversed by changing polarity or something. Just thought people on here might of dealt with this before

It depends on the type of DC motor it is (series, shunt, compound, etc) -  how it is wired inside.

Here's an explanation that says it better than I can:

The field winding reversal in a dc series motor will lead to reversal of direction of the motor due to change in direction of magnetic field. It is important to remember that if you simply changed the polarity of the applied voltage, you would be changing the polarity of both field and armature windings and the motor's rotation would remain the same.

Maybe someone here will know how to do it, in the mean time I'd try contacting the motor supplier or manufacturer and ask them how to reverse it.
