Title: Alpha strips washable? Reels easy to get?
Post by: Yoeddy1 on November 07, 2017, 06:23:12 PM
Hey guys, so I’m from the IGT S2000 world, and I was wondering what Bally Alpha strips are like.  Seems like they are in good condition for the most part when I see them.  Are they washable and more durable than IGT strips?

How about reels?  Are they easy to find?  I’d probably be interested in having 2-3 sets.

Thanks,
Jason

Jason, For the most part the Alpha 1 reel strips are washable:  There are some exceptions,  When Bally switched from s-6000 and went to it's first release alpha 1 platform they incorporated old technology into newer (at that time).  They used a expansion board which housed the old chips and a bios on it and used the OLD strips-Be careful with this type of strips, otherwise they are all cleanable--(NO Windex etc.).  As far as reels goes-Those are in stock everywhere.  There are Diff. reels for trans. etc. but it's not like you have not seen this on diff. platforms. After this experience you will be wanting to advance to the newer stuff-My opinion.

Also as a note to head of further questions the alpha 1 old platform equipped with expansion board requires a s-6000 to s-9000 I think it was converter cf card to enable you to use the old stuff (on that time newer platform which is ancient now).  You being as annual as you are probably would ask these questions in the future. First release alpha 1 mostly had a little square lcd in bottom.  You wont have to worry about all that or will you?.

I have received DIRTY strips in the past. All you have to do is use a damp cloth to wipe them down.
