I had the slot machine have all reels go into tilt and when it did this I lost all info on all display panels. When I power cycled the machine I get no characters in any display. I finally swapped out the SP chip for a SP1137 and I got the 61 and 65 errors which I cleared. Then I dropped a coin and it was ejected and then the machine threw a 31 error which I am unable to clear by opening and closing the door, or by using the jack pot key. I dont own a clear chip. So not sure whats next. Do I have to get a clear chip?
When I stick the old SP chip back in I get no displays and the reels don't lockup or initialize. So Im guessing that chip went belly up somehow as I dont know what else would cause the processor not to initialize the code stack.

Step one check your battery voltage.

It's a new battery. I also checked it and it is to spec.

Take the hopper out and check the wire connections inside the cabinet where the hopper mates to the plug. Check the backside of that plug for wire disconnected or loose fitting .
-
Remove the hopper and jumper the hopper plug connections inside the machine, facing you, upper right to middle left, this tricks the game into thinking the hopper optic is working.
Close the door making sure the latch is all of the way down, that is reset for any errors, and see if the 31 goes away.
If the error goes away then you may have a bad hopper optic.
Errors could be bunched up in memory so multiple door closures, or a clear chip may be necessary to clear the error.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no such thing as a 31 error. Can you double-check that you're giving us the right information?

With the Chip I have, the old 3100 is now 31. So its a correct error code.
I did get it to clear this morning. I finally pulled the hopper out and powered it on, got the 31 code, closed the door without the hopper inserted and it cleared. Reinserted the hopper and now everything is operational. Not sure why with the hopper installed the 31 code would not clear, but there is something strange about it that would not allow it to clear without the hopper removed. I inserted a few coins and cashed out, and the hopper feed the correct amount of coins. So we are back in business till my set chip gets here and I can enable my bill validator.

I'm not understanding what you mean? For the benefit of others that may have a similar problem can you explain further? What do you mean when you say "with the Chip I have" ?

I am running SP1137 and the PSR for this chip states:
Tilt Code : Malfunction - Clearing the Tilt
21 : Coin-in - Open and close door
31 : Extra Coin Out - Open and close door
32 : Coin Jam in hopper - Open and close door
33 : Hopper Empty - Open and close door
-
ok, thanks!

Interesting, I had never noticed that before in that PSR. Thanks for the education! :Professor:
