I just got a Bucks Ahoy and it was not wanting to boot, one as getting a "system error" code and the computer would get to "initializing, please wait" but that's as far as it would go. So I checked the 2032 battery in the computer and it was less than 3 volts, I put in a new 2032 and closed the top box up and now when I turn it on all I get is a sequence of long beeps and the computer does not come on, any ideas? Thanks

Try reseating the memory sticks in the top box.
You will most likely need a keyboard with a small ps2 plug to save the bios after the battery change.
Set time and date then load optimized defaults and save.
Need to correct beeping first.
Note if you were getting to initializing there was probably nothing wrong with the top box.

Thanks qbert, re seating the memory sticks took care of the computer, I set the time & date like you said, now when turn it on, the 2nd time "call attendant" comes up when I open the door to turn the key it says "system error" on the display, is that an issue with the SG chips or the version chip possiblypossibly?

What SB, SG, VS are in the machine? 500 series or enhanced MPU. Top box bios 1 or 2. 1 has a red white and blue splash screen on start. Bios 2 shows green and yellow energy star.
I assuming top box gets to initializing as before.
Please provide sequence of what VFD displays during boot.
There may be other issues but let's start with above.

Other SGs you have are useless here.

If it's a 239 you need VS009GX0.
Don't worry it works multi denom in this configuration.

SG000293 is not compatable should be SG000239.

The SG 239 still may not be compatable with the hard drive up top but won't know until we get MPU working for reel touch.

When you get matching chips, you won't know if they match the hard drives files until you play and hit a bonus, that's the oh, oh moment. the bonus won't play if they are wrong.

Ok I found some more of my chips, I have a set together that may work: SB000566 and 1&2 SG000323
I also have 1&2 of SG000239 and 000536

Also have some SG000301, will any of these work with the Energy Star Green/Yellow Bios set up?

And a SB000523, not sure if those are for Bucks Ahoy or not

239s should work use vs011GX0 you can also try the 536s use vs011GX1

301s are bios 1 pretty sure
Good luck as stated you must play a bonus game to be sure the combination works

Just tried ther SB000566 with the SG000323 and it almost booted up but the display reads protocol mismatch

My top box is Bios 1 I guess, it has the green & yellow Energy Star inn the screen when I turn it on, I stated I had bios 2 before, so I was wrong

I can't post the picture because the file is too large bit when I turned the key 3 times the top box shows:

History
I/O Tests
The bottom display shows 1 Accounting

I'm still thinking 239s

I got it to boot up now I'm getting 7 segment display mismatch, is there a way to fix that?

Use the 239 set up that Ron posted. You will be chasing your tail forever. Use a known set up I have provided. I have no info on the 323s .
The combinations I provided I know work.

Which SB should I try with the 239 chips? Will any other combination of chips that I posted I have work with this bios2 set up possibly? Thanks

Wow, Quite the thread for something we all documented years ago here. I had boat loads of these -first load pulled hair out-fixed-(with no help), 2nd load-down the road back in the day. David, Years ago you even got a perfectly working bucks ahoy from me! You did not document anything!. The stuff is hard only if you make it hard. For the record I Hate these machines. Actually had 5 of them left that converted to "other"-Back then out of 20. This is a "flipper fix" topic!.

Ok, now I have SB566, SG323 and VS09GXO in ther machine and it's at Protocol Mismatch, so now I open the door asnd turn the key 3 times?

Below is what you said the machine had when you purchased it. All you had to do was put the sg239 chips in place of the 293s. (We know for sure SG293s will not work in ANY Reel Touch machines because SG293s are used for tournament games)
It would seem to me that someone transposed the 239 to 293 and that would explain why the game did not function.
Personally for me protocol mismatch has never been fixed by a keyturn I have always had to try different chip/hardrive combination.

Did you try this set up? This is verified.
We won't know what the BGM is until the bottom is working.

I just tried that exact combination of chips and the machine will not boot from the bottom section and I'm getting 4 yellow and one green LED staying lit and nothing showing on the display window

I'm at a point that I may be better off buying another set of matching SB and SG chips, obviously something is wrong with the ones I'm using, may need to get another working 502 or 504 board as well, just in case there's something wrong with mine

Sounds like the lights on the MPU are correct. Are your door wire harness connections ok?

Yes the harness is fine, it will boot up just fine with another SB/SG chip configuration, just not this particular one

I wished those would work cause I sure would drive over and pay you for them but that SB chip is for Denver Duck, I guess those SG chips go with DD as well
