Hi
I have a new Bally Alpha 2 Pro V22/32 and have some questions which might be answered here in this forum. I heard from a supplier that there is software for this device which can only be used once (single use). How can I understand this, must be used in this with a dongle or how should it work? How can I see if an offer is a single use license? What are the different types of licenses?
I also have another question about changing games, is there a good guide somewhere to install Titanic or Cash Spin Featuring Quick Hit?
Can anyone tell me if one or more of these games would run on my Bally Alpha 2 Pro V22/32?
Elvis Lives
Elvis Shake Rattling Reel
MONOPOLY Money - 9 Lines
MONOPOLY Hot Shot
The Simpsons
Titanic Heart of the Ocean
Thanks a lot!

mod, if the post would be better off there: Bally Alpha Reel Games, please move. Thanks a lot!

I have never seen "one time use" software, I have no idea what your dealer means. To change games, you will need the installer card and the game loader, OR an SSD with the game already installed. Some games requires a newer version of the OS and/or newer bios. Post what version of the OS and Bios you have (you can see it by going into the admin menus and hitting version).
As far as licenses, there are games that require a hardware dongle to run (it is theme specific) and the rest do not require a dongle, just the software installed properly on your SSD. Only one game at a time can be installed on an SSD, so if you install a new one, the old one gets erased>
None of the titles you ask for will run on your game.
Elvis Lives is a WMS Gamesfield game
Elvis Shake Ralling Reel is a WMS Blade Stepper with wheel topper.
Monopoly money is a WMS Bladde Stepper with wheel topper.
Monopoly Hot Shot is a new style SG Gaming cabinet.
The simpsons is a WMS Gamescape cabinet game.
Titanic Heart of the Ocean is a Bally V32 WAP game also requires top LCD display with controller. (will not run stand-alone at home)
All games install the same way. You need the instal CF card and loader (either CF or USB Flash drive based). You power the game with both and just select install in the menu. It will clear the previous game, and install the new one. Once it is done, you power off, remove install cf and loader and boot machine, then go through normal process. There are quite a few bally alpha setup videos on you tube you can watch. They are all basically the same, in the progressive settings, you can follow the steps, but when it comes to putting in the progressive information, you can just select default progressives.

Here I have the information (Screenshot) which BIOS and OS I have installed. I have the Installer Card for Titanic and Cash Spin Featuring Quick Hit, does the BIOS and OS version fit? The part I don't understand is the one with the game loader, is it also a USB/CF module or is it part of the OS? Many Thanks!

You have the latest bios for your CPU type. Latest OF is 370C, but you are probably ok with 366J for v22/32 games. There are loaders for OS versions (which typically include the compatible BIOS to go along with it), loaders for games, and then there is the install CF. You need the install CF to install anything into your machine. You put the install CF in the top slot and either the OS or game loader into the bottom slot (sometimes the loader comes in a usb flash drive, in which case you just plug it into any available slot). If your loader is on a usb falsh drive, you need to make sure your logic door switch is open. Sometimes, dealers put a jumper on the switch, so you would need to remove it to install a usb based loader. Once the OS is loaded into the machine, you do not have to mess it with, unless you are upgrading the OS. Typically all you do is switch the games with the installer CF and whatever loader media you have.

I have these two install game cards (see picture, one is from the front and one from the back the same cards), one is Titanic (USB) and the other Cash Spin (CF). Do I understand correctly that I need an OS/Bootload card in addition to the two install cards? If so, how do they look like (possibly a type ore something similar) and where can I get them?

This is the version I have. The seller also has a newer version, but I have not tried the newer one that with the OS type you have.

Is this the newer version I should order? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Newest-Bally-Alpha-2-Install-Chip-269344B-V32-v-22-32-Curve/292735897886?hash=item44286b511e:g:Za4AAOSwBY1bX74s:rk:2:pf:0 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Newest-Bally-Alpha-2-Install-Chip-269344B-V32-v-22-32-Curve/292735897886?hash=item44286b511e:g:Za4AAOSwBY1bX74s:rk:2:pf:0)

Yes, that's the version

Thanks guys, you helped me a lot, I'm also looking for an Manual for my Bally Alpha 2 Pro V22/32, ideally where also the single parts like mpu (etc.) are pictured and described. Thanks a lot!
-
.
-
Yeah, I've seen this, but I'm looking for an manual for the V22/32 with the upper small screen and the lightning tube, ideally with part numbers because the base (the plastic) of the upper smaller upper screen is broken and so I can't mount it fix.
I've also check on this manual if I could find where the Nvram Battery are located, but I couldn't find. Actually I've an "Nvram Battery 1 low" message when I boot the first time, then I switch the powe of, after them boot I must restart (a message shows up) it again and then it works normally. Is not a mayor issue but is but it's annoying. The Battery (CR2477N) I've allready ordered.
Thanks a lot.
-
Pull the cpu out and you will see 2 batteries. If one is failing chances are the other will be right behind it so replace them both. They don’t last very long so stock up on them. Mouser is a good source, best prices.
-
I'm still looking for the spare part between the upper screen and the case, it's the plastic protection which is broken. I also miss the fixing screws there, that means currently I have fastened it with cords so it doesn't fall down. Thanks!
-
Now I've following message :hissyfit:
-
Did you clear the machine after you replaced the battery?
There's also one in the backplane, might as well replace that as well.
-
How could I clear the machine?
-
you need an alpha 2 clear cf card.
-
Are this the correct one I need?
https://www.ebay.ch/itm/254104304328?ul_noapp=true (https://www.ebay.ch/itm/254104304328?ul_noapp=true)
I' m still looking for the "base cover" and the corresponding screws, because I don't know exactly what this part is called I have attached two pictures (not sure if this is the right screw, it's about 1cm long)
What I'm still looking for is the key (also a picture of the lock in the attachment) which fits at the doors of the MPU. Is this a standard?
I've understood almost everything, but not quite for what I need the OS? Which one would I have to order? Otherwise I would be able to order them in the same order and finally have everything I need.
Many thanks!
-
You can just use a dime to turn that to lock/unlock mpu from the cage. Or you can replace it with a thumbluck, that's what I did.
-
Also that is a really old clear card. I would look for the 360 clear.
Image taken from an old e-bay auction.
-
Many thanks, Any idea where I could get one of these? Ebay search was unfortunately resultsless.
I've a follow up question, I've planned to order also an OS Card, are this the correct one I need? https://www.ebay.ch/itm/370C-NEWEST-BALLY-ALPHA-2-PRO-OPERATING-SYSTEM-OS370C-USB-8GB-271640A/292920760968?hash=item4433701a88:g:LmAAAOSw~BRcQOOu:rk:1:pf:0. Are this also include the actually Bios Update, or what I would need additional if not? Is this compatible with the Bally Alpha 2 Install Chip 227207F installer card? Ore with version I need. Actually I'm would like to run Titanic, Cash Sping feat. Quick Hit and Michael Jackson W.B.S.S. on it.
-
There is no further bios update, you already have the latest version available for your mpu type. Also the 3 games you mentioned will work fine with the OS you already have. They will also run with the 370C OS.
-
I need help, I've try to install the Titanic Software from a USB Flash, everything works fine until I'm was in the setup from the game (with the test button). After I've set the Ticket Printer and other setting in the same menu the machine was freezing. After a cold start I couldn't not go on the setting (purple menu) screen with push the test button. I've made a factory reset (push the button) and new install the OS 366J and the Titanic game software the settings (test button) still does not work. I've also tried with the OS 370 and the Titanic game software with the same result. Does anyone have any idea what this could be about?
-
I've never had the issues you point to while installing it on my machine. Since you are able to install 366J I am assuming you have the latest bios for your MPU type. Are you sure you have main door open message on the screen during the setup procedure (it won't let you into the setup menu unless open door M is shown on the screen).

Thanks with the hint with the Door M, that was exactly the problem. I was now able to get the Titanic running and enjoy the whole weekend, thank you very much. :dancing_2:
I still have a minor problem, I tried to set up the ticket printer. The Ticket Printer is a Bally GUR001209 Future Logic and in Device Setup the Voucher Printer is set to FutureLogic with 2D Barcode settings disabled. The test print from the settings works fine, but if I want to print while playing handpay always comes up (even with low amounts). I set Host Comm 1 (Protocol Select) to SAS Primary and Config Validation to System. Is there another setting that I would have to consider, or possibly have to set differently?
-
Unless you have a TITO installed, you cannot select system, it will look for a host to validate the ticket if you do that. You need to select standard if you do not have a TITO board installed in order to print tickets. Also understand that if you do not have a TITO board, the machine will not accept the printed tickets.

I've no TITO board I think. standard are not available in this setting, I've only enhanced and bally extended as choise in the dropdown.

Then you need to change to an SJUR chip that allows for standard.

Ok, do you have a helpful link where I can get it and how to install it? This would be great.
-
You can place a WTB in the classifieds for it. I believe California tribal allows for standard settings, just verify before you purchase with the vendor. If you pull out the MPU, on the top right corner near the batteries, there is a small socketed 8 pin chip that is the SJUR. It should have a label on it (sometimes it falls off) that says AVJUR.... When you get the new one, just swap them out. Just take note on the orientation of the chip's notch, it has to go the same way or it will not work.

What would I be looking for at the WTB? What would be a good title?
-
Figured it out, it's the Bally Alpha Jurisdiction Chip AVJURUSCATR0-02 California Tribal. Thanks again for your help!
-
I installed the AVJURUSCATR0-02 California Tribal, before the Game Setup the following message (see photo in the appendix). But the eprom was detected in clear mode and I could clear it too. Could it be that the eprom is not in working order, or what could be the reason?
-
Does using the original SJUR fix the problem, if it does, then your california tribal eprom might be bad. I have never seen an eeprom error on my alphas though. I would have assumed that if you had a bad sjur, you wouldn't have been able to even clear the machine, but again never having seen that error, I could not give you an answer with 100% certainty. Experimenting with known good components is how I would try to fix it.
-
Yes the original SJUR has fixed the problem, I will order an AVJURUSCATR0-02 California Tribal at another place and hope that it will be OK.
-
Now I got a new AVJURUSCATR0-02 California Tribal and used it. The error message did not appear anymore, but I now have the message: "Hard meters disconnected" (see also image), what else could this be, can adjust the settings of the game, even from the printer, but it does not start because of this message. As additional info, closing Door M didn't work either, I only opened it because otherwise I can't see the warning message.
-
Check the jumper on J26 of the backplane to make sure it's connected. That jumper (labeled COUNTERS), is there to bypass hard meters.

Thanks for your help. I found the J26, but there is already wired (look at the picture), where do I have to make the connection to make it work?
By the way, I got a message from Michael Jackson Icon that the door C is open, but I didn't find a door C in the manual and also in this forum.
-
That's interesting. My machines do not have wiring to J26, just the jumper to bypass meters. See attached photo. Also, door C is the middle door.

Do you have also a Bally Alpha 2 V22/32 and a ticket printer installed? What could I do? Can I remove the plugged in cable and wire the plug as shown in your photo? What do you mean by the middle door? Do you have a photo of the door?
-
Yes, the middle door is the 22†door. I would think the jumper would clear that message but you should be able to trace that connection and see if it’s disconnected at that meters if it correctly connected at J26

Wheres the wires ends from the J26, it’s on the ticket printer? I‘m not exactly understand where the connection for the hard meters must be connected?
-
Ticket printer should be connected to J24. Trace the wires from J26 and see where they go if you can. The C door open should be gone if the middle door is closed all the way
-
I believe "C" refers to the cabinet door, the one where the main monitor resides, it is probably not latched all the way.
-
See attached from the Bally Field Guide for all the possible door messages
-
Do these V22/32’s have an attract mode when there is no cash in them?
-
It varies by software, but I've never heard them make noises.
