Post by: Herbie21 on September 14, 2020, 02:23:46 AM
dear All, my 809, after all your help, is running great accept one little thing sometimes the hopper blocks and stops turning, pressing something on the bottom makes it work again. I have addes some pictures. How does this hopper work, is there any documentation? Is there a switch at the bottom? Please share your thoughts Herbie

what are you pressing to make it work again?

if it's a flat metal bar that goes under the hopper to the back of the cabinet, that's the safety delay reset.

the safety delay stuff is designed to detect a runaway payout and turn off the hopper.  Runaway payout is when coins are ejecting but the payout counter is not stepping up.

when the payout counter steps the wipers far enough to rotate off the active pay trace, the payout stops.  A non-stepping payout counter on a game with no safety delay circuit will empty the hopper.

problems with the safety delay could be a bad capacitor, diode, a switch on the payout counter ratchet (white gear), switches on the delay relay, the delay relay itself or plug connections.

if you are poking something on the hopper itself, take a picture with a pen or something pointing at what you are pushing.

yes i am pressing a flat metal bar to deblock the hopper motor, which till then was engined and making a humming sound, the machine is not on a tilt, I can see a capacitor and a relay, is this the delay relay?

Not sure, but it might be the hopper brake that is malfunctioning.

if the safety circuit times out, the entire game shuts off and only the "pilot neon" light will lit.

sounds like the bar you mean is the one david is referring to on the brake assembly ... red arrow in below pic.

if so, remove the two screws (green arrows) and the bearing, take off and clean the nylon pieces and shafts they pivot on.   Lube isn't really necessary on reassembly.

you should be able to push down on the bar and it moves up/down without sticking.  That in turn rotates the actual brake to move it away from the motor armature/rotor - second picture, purple arrow
