HI,
I'm new to these games but have a solid background in electronics. i replaced a dead coin cell battery, went through some setup instructions I found online. I'm getting the error and can't proceed further. I read in some old posts that I need a keychip to continue. Sound reasonable? Where do I get the chip?
The game has been sitting for a long time. It looks to be in good condition after a good cleaning.

I'd get a keychip, you'll eventually need it.
The coin out jam error shouldn't bee there. Close the main door and see if it goes away. The options verification required message is informational and is letting you know system settings may have changed. When the coin out jam error is cleared an OK box will appear that you can touch and that will disappear too.
Did you install a battery holder in it? If so, and closing the door doesn't clear the message then pop the battery out and go through the RAM error message process again and see if it comes back or not.
