Where in the heck is the battery on this board?
-
Well I see something round on the left side toward the bottom but the picture is so low resolution, it's hard to tell. You need to post a bigger photo.
-
one of these, but again as the other post says, such low pic can't tell and the angle don't help
-
Sorry about the size of the picture. NLG does not allow me to post the original size. I have changed several batteries before. Usually they are the 1/2 AA 3.6V lithium batteries. This one is definitely different. I'll try to make the pic bigger. NCR Guy, I think its the round black thing on the left. It says 5V on it, I've just never seen one like that in the past.
-
After further digging around, the flat round thing on the left is the battery. Its dead and needs to be replaced. It says 232 and 5V on it. I'll try Batteries Plus but I have my doubts. Does anyone know where I can find one? I'm striking out online too.

Normally they don't use a battery at that location, a Supercap is used instead.
Usually rated at 1 Farad and 5 Volts.
I have never encountered a defective one, they charge up pretty fast.

DREESE: Thank you Badbaud! I didn't think that was a battery. So this is the first MPU I've seen without a true battery.
TOPIC SPLIT - New one added for LCD conversion. Add only battery comments here please.

Badbaud is right. It's a SuperCap and it charges the cap when the machine is on.

Some of my boards have just the supercap, then some have just a battery and some have Both supercap and battery. it depends on the board number.
On my poker machine that I purchased back in 1996 just has the supercap and it still boots up everytime.
