Title: CDS MBU Light Indicators?
Post by: cory_voss on May 04, 2020, 11:46:42 AM
In the process of trying to find a new Main Board for a CDS UV-1510 (Still can't find one), but I wanted to see if someone could edumacate me on the indicator lights on the Main Board (VIG 1.00 PCB956) … Specifically what a lit "VLAMPS" light might mean. I would assume the other lights (+12v, -12v, +5v) indicate incorrect power input to the board, but they're not lit though.

Thanks,

Or... maybe the fact that the +12v, -12v & +5v LED lights not being lit is actually the problem and the PSU really is the culprit.

Not sure about all the others, but the power supply voltage LEDs should be lit.  Check your power supply.

I was thinking that they should be lit too. I pulled the power supply box off and saw that it's not really even a power supply. It's nothing more than an RFI Power Line Filter with connectors. I ordered a new RFI Power Line Filter from Amazon (same model and specs) and installed. Still no love, VLAMPS LED lights up on MBU but none of the Power Indicator Lights.

I'm back to my original train of thought that the MBU is bad and not receiving power or there is a break in power from PSU to MBU (Wires get lost in the loom and it's impossible to trace by eye). Will still try to scour the internet and try to find a MBU (CDS VIG 1.00 PCB956).

Its interesting though... The PSU has two 3-Pin pigtails coming off it. One of them seeming goes up into the loom and into the fuses (all fuses check good), than one comes back and plugs back into the PSU to power the 4 outlets on it. Plugged a USB phone wall charger into each of the outlets and LED came on. It's evident that Power is coming into the PSU, leaving the PSU, hitting the fuses and going to their destination. All peripherals not powered plugged into the MBU are coming on. All peripherals connected to the MBU (Hopper, Coin Comparator, Hold Lights) do not come on, and neither does the Power LEDs on the MBU.

I emailed K-LAR and they told me they do not carry MBUs for CDS machines, and recommended to become a member of NewLifeGames.com (Ping-Pong!)

Anyways, thanks for the assistance, I think I'm going to have to still find an MBU somewhere and install. … I'm sure that will be fun.

Thanks,
~V
