Title: Help identify dice rolling machine
Post by: Chris-socal on September 12, 2021, 10:40:45 AM
I had no idea which category to put this in. This isn’t a video or reel game, it is an electromechanical machine. When I first saw the listing I assumed the dice had lights in them and the odds were controlled by a computer but that is not the case. There are actual dice in a shaker box (for lack of a better term) and when its time to roll the dice the box has an arm that flips the dice. It appears to me that the dice have magnets or something behind each of the pips and a board underneath counts them. This seems very late-70s in some respects. There are no maker marks on the case or on the board. The game brain board seems to work but the shaker box is dead so it tilts. I suspect PS. The brain board had a section of bad corrosion even though there is no backup battery.
The face glass is plexiglass. The shaker box is a mechanical marvel, it actually moves the dice back to the front of the box after each payout.
Im hoping someone has see one and can help identify.
Chris

That appears to be a Bonanza Million Dice. I have 2 of the later Super Dice versions. There were a few different models of it and there is no support available for it. Bonanza was a Japanese company and there are a few members here who have them. Hopefully they’ll chime in. Meanwhile you can read more about them here https://www.coinopcollectorforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4710&hilit=bonanza+Craps (https://www.coinopcollectorforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4710&hilit=bonanza+Craps) and here’s a video https://youtu.be/oyYfMWKFV-U (https://youtu.be/oyYfMWKFV-U)

Thank you very much. When I saw the Japanese text on the PS I wondered if the PS was just sourced from Japan  or if the entire game was maybe Japanese. I cleaned up the corrosion on the board and got the game to accept a bet but as soon as the dice mechanism is supposed to run it tilts. Do you know if the dice box is supposed to have power all the time and that is controlled by the onboard relay?
Thanks again for the link.

Unfortunately I can’t be of any help in regards to the proper state of the machine during play. Now that you know what it is, hopefully you can track down someone with a working machine that can answer your questions. If you get it going, please share videos of it in action.
