Title: Tito Aruze Innovator
Post by: GamesToPlease on June 02, 2021, 04:36:37 AM
Does anyone know if Tito is compatible with Aruze Innovator machines?

Yes!!  It took a while to get the settings right as some didnt quite make sense but it is compatible with 5.02 - 6.01 and 6.02.  I currently have it working.

Could you show us in detail how you've connected the TITO board to the backplane?
Thanks!

Sorry for the late response, I never got notification of a reply to this topic.
There is no connection to the backpane.  The connection is actually the left side RS-232 port on the "brainbox".  There is two.  Dont use the right.
I would upload the document but when it is watermarked with my name and email address from Aruze.

Thanks for the information. I've also been looking for this info for quite some time, as I've been wanting to get TITO working on my Aruze machine. I've attached a pic. Is this the brainbox you're talking about, and is this the RS-232 port I should use (circled in yellow)?
I'm hoping the programming of the settings is somewhat straightforward. I've done this on my WMS Bluebird 2 machine a number of times, so I'm hoping it's somewhat similar.

Correct, that is the port.  The settings are pretty straightforward but if you cant get it let me know and I will post a picture of my settings.  Mine will be slightly different as I am using a custom product which supports AFT and ENHANCED VALIDATION as well as SAS 6.02

Can anyone draw a physical diagram of the harness connection between the TITO board and the backplane?
I want to hook one up.
I need to make a harness

There is no connection to the backpane.
Connection is direct to the RS232 port (the left one) on the MPU.
Attached pic is direct from Aruze tech bulletin.  I would post the whole bulletin but it is watermarked with my name and email address.

okay good.
Let me ask you a couple of questions....you do not need to post a "watermarked bulletin".

1). How many wires are on the harness between the RS232 port and the TITO board?

2). What is the configuration of the wires from one end to the other?

It looks to be a standard DB9 RS232 connector. So PIN 2 is RECEIVE, PIN 3 is SEND, and PIN 7 is GROUND. So basically those 3 wires would go to your TITO board. Reverse the receive and send wires on the other side since the TITO will be sending to the receive side of the Aruze and vice versa, unless your TITO already has them reversed like a crossover / null-modem. See attached pic for PIN layout.

Answer 1:  Three wires.
Answer 2:  You will utilize pins 2/3/5.  Transmit ----->  Rec of RS232.   Receive-------> Transmit of RS232.  Gnd---------> Gnd of RS232.  If fails swap 2 and 3 around.  Typically you can plug your TTL-RS232 directly in to the RS232 port of the MPU.  Here is the pinout from Aruze although the configuration is pretty standard 232 configuration.

Now we're getting somewhere...maybe?

"...If fails, swap 2 and 3 around"...

Why should it fail?
Haven't you tried it yet?  :scratch-head_2:
I don't understand but I'll try to construct a harness and see what happens.

Yes I have tried it, yes it is working.
Why should it fail? For two reasons, I am sitting at my desk during my day job and dont have a TTL-RS232 in front of me or able to look up and tell you exactly if pin 2 is transmit or receive also I have gotten some cheap knockoff devices in which Transmit was Receive and Receive was Transmit.

But as I said, plug the converter right in to the port and there is no need for a harness one and done!!

Just use a normal WMS Tito and harness.  Plug it in to the port shown on this string of posts and set it up....  That's it.  No need to reinvent the wheel.. :)

I had a WMS TITO@3.0 board...trying that because it has a serial connector harness on it.
Thanks.

What are the settings in the software menus.  I have the original printer in my Ennovator, but I seems its not as simple as just enabling the printer.  Cashouts still pop a hand pay message. Can you post those settings?
