Oh no — water somehow got into my 3902 Game King bill validator (leak in my garage roof, but oddly, no water anywhere else in the machine).
Originally it said "Bill Validator Error" but after a couple days it now says "Bill Validator Stacker Error."
There's a red light (laser?) in the scanning area (see photo), so I assume it's getting power.
The bill validator test says it'll accept the next bill, but nothing happens when I try to shove one in.
Could this be resolved, or is the board likely water damaged?
Thanks,
G.

Does it cycle when you power up the machine? Have you checked to make sure the head is firmly in place?
(I moved this to the JCM BV section)
-
It does not cycle upon powerup.
-
For stacker error check the switch/wires behind the cash can.
-
Do you have another unit you can swap in?
-
I don't have another. I'll pull it out and inspect.
Thanks everyone for your ideas!

Go to the "Start Here" opening post of the WBA section, that will test your unit and tell if it is working or not.

I followed the diagnostic steps using the dip switches, but the unit never cycled.
There are two red lights near the dip switches — does that offer any clues?
-
Most likely its water damaged. Jim has units if you need a replacement.

I'll contact Jim.
Here's a pic of the connector.

Thanks Jim for getting me back in the man cave for some Game King fun!

What was the problem?

What was the problem?
Water damage most likely.
Does anyone keep non-working BVs on hand for parts? If so, I have one to give away!
(Interestingly, only one game allowed me to play with a non-working BV — surprisingly, it was 1777. Then I stupidly hit the Cash Out button by accident and was no longer able to play until I replaced the BV!)

You should get a TITO board with the free credits option. Then you just have push the service button to add credits to your machine. So if your validator is on the fritz, you can still play. If you have a ticket printer, then you can just print out a bunch and use them instead of cash, but if you don't, then you can still use the free credits feature.
