S Plus no Errors but the Quarters go straight through ?????

I have 2 S Plus machines doing the same thing.  They both have new coin comparitors but not new coin optics.  I have cleaned them.  I reset the machines with clear chips.  They go from 61 to 65-1 errors to reels spin and insert coin lights up.  Door is shut no errors.  I input quarters and they fall straight through.  Is this the optics or comparitor?

Where is your coin sensitivity dial set at?

Try turning fully counter clockwise then a 1/4 turn clockwise to get you in the ballpark for coin acceptance.

Are they gray color coil wire comparitors? They might need the caps replaced on the comparitor. Do what Bunker mentioned, but leave it at fully CCW . Bad cap will not give enough range on the pot adjustment.

I tried adjusting the cc as suggested. Still doing the same on one machine. The other machine then gave me an error 31 which I can’t get to clear. What caps need replaced on these?  Is that common? 
 
Let me know what else to do or try. Thanks for the help.

Yes it is a common problem with the comparitor. Its a large electrolytic cap on the comparitor board. There is only one large cap on the board.

The CC is rejecting the coins if they fall to the tray.  I would try removing Q2/Q4 from coin in optics, that is what tells the CC to reject otherwise good coins.(more than the 2, 3 or 5 it normally takes to play a game).  If that doesn't work you may need a new CC (or repair it).

Can someone give me a tip on how you are removing Q4/Q2. Do you cut the legs or desoldier it?  Found it and it’s tiny. So thought I would ask for advice.
