742-A Kit Machine from Nevada
« on: February 09, 2022, 09:20:02 PM »
Hi again! Prior to my hiatus from the EM hobby, I was working/cleaning up this shipping container treasure, but for some reason the machine will not payout on any fruit/bar combination. The machine pays out correctly on every other win (including the large ones) but for some odd reason it does not like the fruit/bar combo wins? I have the factory manual for the Money honey reel contact location, but I don"t think its the right one based on me lining up the reel contact to the map attached. Since this machine was originally a 50 cent slot (based on the data plate information) would i need a 50 cent schematic to get the correct pay or trace the wires to the contact reel wire to beau plug to find the right alignment? Thanks for looking- Bill

Orange/Bar-no pay
Lime/Bar- no pay
Bell/Bar- no pay

it's not really the coin denomination that matters, it's the "type of game".

742A-436 (50) was a "break the bank" machine built for the union plaza casino and used reel tapes m-220-[1464, 1465, 1466].  Those aren't the tapes on your machine, so you've got a conversion game.

assuming a different model number is not written on the reel mech with a sharpie ... or the reel wiper boards ... can you find numbers/codes stamped into the slotted reel index discs and what's the M-645-xxx number on the payout counter disc?

if I can find reel wiper drawings that probably match, that'll make your life easier.   Without correct drawings, you can still figure out how the reel wipers work by tracing the circuit thru the 3 boards when the wipers are on the symbols you want.

the circuit will start at the grey wire 90 on reel 3 and in your case a bar symbol should be connected to wiring for the bar, orange, plum and bell symbols on reel 2.   A typical circuit is wire 71 (orange/red) goes from reel 3 to an arc of rivets on reel 2.  That arc will complete the connection to wire 90 for bar, bell, orange and plum columns on the wiper board.

got a picture of the wiring side of the reel 3 wiper board?

Hi and Yes when I found the machine with this label and the absence of any coin-in/out counter i knew it was a kit machine, Here is some pictures that might help find the correct schematic. Thanks for your time Wolftalk

referring to below pic, is are the rivets red arrow pointing to on reel 2 wiper board connected ok?  White wire other end ok?

if yes, are the rivets on the other side cruddy or the wiper finger sweeping over those rivets making poor contact?

tmi

index discs p-484-[242,243,244] were used on "money honey special" games.

tapes m-220-[248, 249,250] were commonly used.

unfortunately, the reel wiper wiring for those games is most commonly drawing w-1041-[281, 282, 283] which I don't have.

however, the other docs including a schematic for a "money honey special" 742A-92A(T) are in https://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/

the (T) is jackpot tower and you can see on the schem the different writing style for the wires feeding the tower lights.

since your game is probably a conversion (vs a serial plate transplant), the wire colors may not match the schematic.  The posted pics are hard to tell due to low resolution.  If you take hi-res pictures that are too big to upload to NLG, email them to slotpics@cdyn.com.

the highest possible resolution pictures of reel wiper 2 wiring from as many angles as possible would be helpful.

it may be worth verifying the reel wiper position on reel 2.  When reel 2 is a cherry, the wipers should be pushed way back to "position 1".  The index disc slot is very shallow.  Then the wiper position is in the order shown on the schem ... CH, BE, BE (with MH above or below), OR, PL, ME, ST, BA, MH

MH is position 9, which is the leftmost column of rivets looking at the wiring side.

usually there's 4 columns of unused rivets on the right side of the contact plate (looking at the wiring side) on a game using P-484-xxx index discs.

ok I will double check those wires for continuity on reel 2, I removed the wipers which were slightly dirty which I cleaned (rivets also) and reinstalled with the same outcome. I use a .0005 feeler gauge along the wiper fingers to confirm i have proper contact. Let me take some pictures of reel 2 and send them to that email for your review- Thanks Wolktalk

I lift up the end of the wiper finger a little with my fingernail and let go.  It should make a convincing "plink" noise as it snaps down on the rivet.

if you suspect it's flaky, set up a payout and with a dowel or chopstick push the finger down onto the rivet and wiggle a little.

also check how the fingers are connected together at the opposite edge.  Sometimes on conversions a wire was used to reconnect the fingers and the solder job was suboptimal.
