Title: Bally 5000 (vacuum display) Coin out Jam cant figure it out!!!
Post by: mrcrazy on January 16, 2024, 09:01:56 PM
I have been messing with this slot off & on for weeks!! I have a 5000 bally blazing sevens in my home so I have tested the IO & cpu boards...they are fine. I have done so much trying to figure this out...capped boards, tested the transistors on the hopper board, cleaned connectors. My power supply is original but its giving me a steady voltage all the time (5.18) but I have since ordered a new power supply even though I dont think its that (its on the way).
When I power it up, if I do it fast enough I can hit the pseudo coin button to get my 2 credits, pull the handle and the reels will spin correctly MOST of the time...sometimes I get a improper reel spin error. Even if I dont get that..if I let it sit for 5 seconds & get a coin out error, even if I DONT have the hopper hooked up!! I have cleared the boards dozens of times with chips, the IO remove trick, & the jumper on J1 on the door.... nothing fixes it. Again I have completely taken this machine apart many times over the last month...cant get it. reflowed a ton of connectors, pushed in on the wires in the IDC connectors, cant get rid of the coin out jam error.....

ANYONE have any ideas?? Im at the end of my rope....

well guys I think I finally got it.... seems it needs the hopper in the game in the NORMALLY CLOSED switch position....I bet the guy before me messed with it OR its an issue on the hopper control board as im now not getting the required 24V out of the hopper control board.... its getting to the hopper board but not exiting...
I ordered some parts after testing a few components & hopefully this will fix my final issue.....
