Universal slot machine credit question
« on: July 12, 2022, 06:46:13 AM »
wondering why my credit meter on my universal machine reads 0000 in test mode and reads 0 when the door is open but when you push in the door close button or close the door the meter is blank. machine recognizes credits when you put a bunch of coins in as it gives the extra spins but no meter number. max bet and bet 1 buttons dont work either button have continuity when pushed on the multimeter, machine works good otherwise.

This does not sound like a Universal slot machine.
No Universal machine would allow multiple coins entered to play multiple games. ( called Montana credits)

What is name of the game your playing and what mpu board does it have?

It is a universal 8556-2 double jackpot. If I put in 1 coin I get a 1 coin spin. If I put in 2 I get a 2 coin spin. If I put in 8 I get 4 spins before arm
Locks, 10 I get 5 spins and so on. It knows I put the coins in but makes no coin noise after coin 2.

The standard Universal programming would allow one extra coin and that extra would be allowed for next game. A forth coin should cause a tilt.

Hmmmm........so either someone has hacked up the game eprom or there is some kind of mechanical/ program failure.

Make sure your machine has the daughterboard on the mpu at location 1A. ( assume 8116 mpu board) no good without daughterboard.

Perform a RAM clear and try the machine again.

RAM clear is easy on Universal.

Machine OFF, open door, remove coin tray for access. At the bottom of mpu board cage there is a round quarter sized hole in the center, facing hopper. Put your finger in the hole you will feel small black push button. Push and hold button in while powering up machine, hold about three seconds. That's it, machine is reset.

If that doesn't help I am not sure what is going on. Maybe post pics of machine with door open and of mpu board.
