Title: Hopper Mechanics
Post by: jkowal43 on September 14, 2021, 11:03:52 PM
Hello All,

I finally got my IGT PE+ Machine in working order, but the coin elevator doesn't seem to work. Do anyone have some common troubleshooting things to check? Or does the hopper need to be about 50% full in order for the coin elevator to work. Any guidance is appreciated. Couldn't find any discussion on the hopper for this machine.

Thanks,

~ Justin

Take the hopper out, hold down the brake, put a couple coins in and turn it by hand to see if it pushes coins up the elevator

you have to be a little more specific, what is the hopper doing or not doing?  a lot of times built up dirt on the inside tracks causes many problems.

try and get a few coins into the elevator, then hold the coin counter lever out of the way, turn the hopper upside down and the coins in the elevator should roll through the  elevator with ease and come out the end.

Hope this helps

I will try that. It seems to be doing nothing but the machine hasn’t been previously turned in a really really long time, so I am guessing it is mechanical or something like that. Stay tuned.

Thanks,

That hopper motor runs on 110 vac, you can use a cheater cord and apply power to it out of the machine .  I took a short extension cord, cut off the one end and installed push on connectors ( the same type on the motor now)  , I plug that cord into a power strip with a on/off button and operate the hopper in that fashion. this allows you to see what is exactly going on step by step.

When I try moving the hopper wheel manually, it moves slightly but is stuck. I think I have removed the brake from it, but the wheel does not turn by power or manually.

Update- I was able to lift them manually with the wheel. But no power. Trying to troubleshoot that.

Thanks,

How do I test if power is going to the hopper connection?

first thing is to establish that the hopper is working outside the machine, then inside the machine.

there is a test in the machine, press the test button until you see the hopper test come up on the screen, follow the prompts, if working, it should count ten coins and stop.

Thanks all! Tony Luders helped me troubleshoot. Essentially the hopper worked fine, but the cash out button was disconnected. Reattached and all works! Still having trouble with BV- will post update in a separate post!
