I'm still a "newbee" but I am learning a lot from you guys on the forum...thanks! My latest delema is that I have two Game Kings and both have WBA 10/11/12/13 bill validators. Both have TITO. One of the B.V.s works perfectly all the time. The other is at best erratic. When the machine is first powered on the LED's light up and it will process currency with no problems but it may take three or four trys for it to process a ticket. Occasionaly it will get stuck in a forward & reverse cycle without any ticket or bill inserted then after a few minutes it shut's it'self down. The other B.V. works perfectly in both machines so it is not a problem inherent to the machine. I have also switched the cash boxes....did't help.....same results. Perhaps there's a fix for this without replacing the bill validator? As always, I appreciate any help I can get.

Have you tried removing the head and cleaning those optics? It may be something as simple as a dust problem. No cleaners or alcohol (except for the operator) just clean water and a q-tip or rag.

Thanks, Shaggy
Yes I already did the cleaning thing and BTW my cleaning methods were based on what I learned from reading the forum. But cleaning did not help. Nor did the Bourbon that I used for testing the results.

Try swapping the heads. That should tell you if the problem is there or with the transport. My odds are on the head.

Thanks!
I'll try that.

I decided not to try and change the heads. My fear is that having never done this I could wind up with two bill validators that don't work. I read about calibration using a black and white card. Does this work? Could calibration be what I need? Otherwise I'll probably look for replacement B.V.

The head calibration is held in the transport, so changing the heads is not going to mess up anything. Calibration may fix your problem, but I've had heads that even after calibration have issues with acceptance. Honestly, these things are inexpensive enough that you are probably just better off buying a new transport/head that is known to be fully functional than going down the path of fixing what you have, especially since you lack the equipment to do troubleshooting and calibration. The calibration paper is also super hard to find now, and when you find it, they are selling for well over $50, which is more than you are going to pay for a working setup.

Thanks for the good advice....I'll replace it.

I swapped the two heads and got the same results from the head in question. Both transports seem to be ok. I did check for loose wires and I did a cleaning of the sensors with a Q tip and water. So, I'll just replace the bad head. Thanks again!
