Title: WMS Wizard of Oz Ruby Slipperd
Post by: RubySlipperLover on February 04, 2017, 02:32:38 PM
I bought the software and OS CF to WOZ Ruby Slippers and was wondering what would be the cheapest way to get this to work. I don't have any bluebird machine YET. They are just so darn expensive. I noticed that when WMS had the information about the original ruby slippers game it said it would work with bb1, the problem being obviously not on widescreen(which doesn't really bother me). The issue I'm worried about is 1. Can I get the sound to work w/o the Bose 3space sound chair (I can't imaginee how expensive that would be) someone who sold top gun software told me it used the boss chair and worked without it so I was just wondering. And, I've heard with BB1 you need a seperate cf card to make the top screen work. I'm ok woth the top screen being all black except the little circle in the middle of it would work, but can I even get it to work that way without an additional top-box CF card?

Ruby slippers is not a BB1 game.  The game was originally a BB1.5 game, which means it was a bb1 cabinet with a bb2 mpu.  So the cheapest way to get it going is to buy a bb1 with bb2 mpu inside of it.  You will need a top lcd screen mounted in the top box, but you do not need the tsetse board for the top video, it is provided by the bb2 mpu.  When you setup the game, after it loads and gives you the top box lost comm error, you will need to go into the setup screen again, select the game setup option, scroll down and look for the disable top box option and check that.

I have a BB1 tall cabinet that I can install a BB2 MPU. You would need to do the top monitor install. People here or ebay would have those parts. You probably can find an install thread for the top LCD on here too.

okay but i’ve now seen two machines that “emulate” the top box perfectly minus the strobing lights around it. the screen is the round screen in the middle “a little bigger than the size of the circle screen in the casino” with black surrounding the circle that fills the rest of the square screen. The top screen works perfectly in the circle. This is a bb2. Is this a cooler or tsetse? don’t know what the tsetse is. explanation would be great. I always wanted top screen to work. and I honestly think the bigger version looks better. probably not the best resolution but i’ll take it till someone has a top box (if ever).
