Hi! New here, I recently got my hands on a Bally s6000 not knowing anything about what makes these things work I plugged it in and hoped for the best first error I got was 8100 did some research landed here and was sure a new battery(AA battery swap) would do the trick soldered the pack in got some clear chips off ebay and followed the directions to do a complete safe arm clear went fine but first thing I notice upon reboot with eproms back in is only reel #1 and #2 are moving trying to calibrate #3 not moving at all keep getting error code 40 I've tried the process with same results not many answers out there about fixing error code 40 any ideas would be appreciated thanks!

Try swapping reel 1 with reel 3 and clear again. See if the problem follows the reel.

The whole reel or just where they plug in? I'm rather new sorry lol
-
Unplug reels 1 & 3, then swap them out to see if your problem follow the reel assembly.
-
Unplug the entire reel(s) and swap them.

Upon reinserting chip u43 one of the legs broke and I'm not getting any response after clear any idea where I can get main eproms or any other alternative?

If you have the leg, it can be soldered back on.

Ok I'll give it a shot I found some leave in mains online says they come with printer support I'd like to purchase some just to have anything I should look out for when buying them or are they all just pretty much direct replacement as long as they are for the s6000?
-
Got the leg soldered back on booted it back up after swapping wheel 1 and 3 this time only reel #2 started to shake still throwing code 40 and 50(pretty sure that's just the open door code) any ideas?
-
For some reason you are still not getting a full clear.
Are you holding test and pseudo buttons in and watching for CHC then CLC?
-
I had one machine a while back that I had to hold those 2 buttons down for well over 30 seconds before I received the CLC in the display.
-
heres a video of whats going on
reel #1 and 3 are swapped there

You didn't finish the clear procedure.
You have to put in the game chips and LEAVE the door open until the board does it's reel seek.
Until you see a 50 code on the door after the reels finish seeking to position 1 on all reels you cannot close the door.
-
Ended up being that I wasn't seating the board firmly enough in place its up and running now just gotta figure out how to get the bill acceptor to take cash thanks for the help y'all definitely will be making a donation to the site!
-
Check your DIP switch settings. I got one in that would not take bills and it was set for a Mars acceptor, the machine actually had a JCM in it.

How would I go about doing that?
-
DIP switch DS2 sets that option.
-
DIP switch DS2 sets that option.
I believe I have a WBA 13 SS DS2 switches are 1,2,4,6,7 off and 3,5,8 on is that what I should be looking for?
Also noticed the sticker on the front of acceptor says WBA 13 SS and back sticker on it says JCM WBA 21 SS?
-
Turn all bill validator switches off and try it.
The DIP switch bank I am referring to is on the main 6000 board DIP switch #2.
-
Where is that located I assume your not referring to the mpu ds2?
-
Yes, that is it.
-
Tried all DS2 switches off got error 23 still red light on cash acceptor maybe I need to update the chips for it?
23 Coin Not Sensed Coin was not sensed by the drop optic (DS2-8=OFF Diverter OpticInstalled)

Yes he is referring to the MPU Board. You should see 2 sets of switches. Marked 1 and 2..

Ok I tried all DS2 switches off and got error 23 and bill acceptor still red light :Scratch-Head:
-
All of the DIP switches on the WBA bill validator should be off.
DIP switch #2 on the MPU board is used to set hardware options.
Turning them all off really screwed up your 6000 board.

Ok I found the WBA dip switches they were all off I reset the dip switches on the mpu everything back to normal still red light bill acceptor
-
With the door open there is a 50-29 error which I guess means bill acceptor communication error?
-
If you changed the DIP switches on the MPU board you have to clear the MPU board again.
Anytime you modify the DIP switches a clear is necessary.
Give me your on/off settings for switches 1 through 8 on DIP switch 2.
-
I did do a complete saferam clear after resetting the DS2 switches back everything seems fine besides issue with the BV
MPU DS2 switches 3,5 and 8 are on
All dip switches on WBA are off
Chip on the WBA reads WBA-V301.VLC gold 20's DF0C
-
Switches 1 through 4 set the denomination, Yours is set for 20 cents.
Switches 5 and 6 set the type of bill validator, yours is set for WBA.
Switch 7 sets crazy reel spin, yours is set for crazy reel spin.
Switch 8 is set for no EFT, which is fine.
ALL of the switches on DIP switch 3 should be on.
-
Flipped the ones on dip 3 that were off to on cleared and still red light 50 29 error I can hear the wmb initialize after clear if I ordered a new chip for the wmb would that solve my problem or is there more to it not communicating with the mpu?
-
A BV comm error can be caused by a switch not being made, like the one that senses the cash can being in or one that senses the door to the cash can is open but I would try finding the "bill validator" plug on the back board the mpu plugs into and unplugging it then back in a couple of times to see if that clears it.
-
Is there supposed to be a harness plugged into the back of wmb where the white I'm assuming canister button is? Other than that there is a plug at the top that runs to the back main board labeled bill acceptor
-
That canister button is usually the first thing that is jumpered out so it is a non issue.
Yes all of that BV wiring originates on a plug on the backplane board.
Find it, unplug it, then back in a couple of times.
-
Hmm tried it still nothing I'm stumped :Scratch-Head:
-
Does your WBA have a chip in it, if so what is printed on it?
-
Yes it has an eproms it is a WBA 13 labeled on the chip is WBA-V301.VLC Gold 20's DF0C
But I did the test settings on the dip switches for the WBA and got the green arrows to show reset them all back to off and got the BV to take one dollar bill give me credits but it keeps rejecting them over and over only took that one?
-
I would be concerned that the chip doesn't have ID0-3 somewhere on it but I could be wrong.
Anybody else want to jump in here?
Your next step may be to send the BV unit to our shop to have the software on it upgraded.
If you just drop another chip in you would need the tools to do a re-calibration, we have those tools.
A lot of shops on this forum have that capability also.
-
Ok I'll be in touch and do some research on ID0-3 as of now it's taking some dollars I had laying around repeatedly not sure about 5,10, 20 etc yet appreciate the help
-
At least no more nagging 40 code.
-
Yes it has an eproms it is a WBA 13 labeled on the chip is WBA-V301.VLC Gold 20's DF0C
I've never heard of WBA-V301.VLC Gold 20's DF0C.. Could this WBA be from a VLC Machine? I think it's the wrong Eprom software.. Doesn't Bally use a IDO044-45 code, or is that only used on the DBV units?
-
WBA13 SS IDO-003 is what I always use on Bally games.
-
Yes Bally 6000 use WBA ID 003 V3.8
-
So if purchase the latest updated chip it would require a recalibration? The one I'm looking at is Version 3.80-32i for WBA 12 / 13-SS ID-003
-
That would be the one to purchase.
Let's hope it will work without a calibration.
