Good afternoon! Really appreciated the information from this forum so I decided to start contributing $$ to support the cause lol!
I have a WMS-550 I hooked up to my monitor and was wondering if I have to acquire a percentage chip in order to change the odds? What are the appropriate steps to change the odds? Thank you!!

I believe the payout percentage is controlled by a setting on the Game Percentage menu screen, in the Config/Test menus. You can view the current payout percentage but it can't be changed unless you install a special chip as you mentioned. See photo below. Some of our NLG folks may have this chip for setting the game percentage.
Because you are a Contributing Member of NLG you have access to the download area. There may be manuals in there for your machine that have more information.

While I was browsing thru the WMS-550 manual I came across this note about doing the ram CLEAR procedure. It seems that if you have a certain cpu board (CPU 1.5) then you will need an "eprom extender daughter board" that installs onto the cpu board so that you can install the CLEAR chip. See photo below:
