Title: BB1 Video Help
Post by: davei on February 07, 2018, 11:47:02 PM
So I was adjusting my video setting and inadvertently hit the setting called "recall" (see pic). Now my video is distorted. Any ideas?

There's an "auto" button (should be labeled on the physical buttons) that you can hit when the menus are not there. The monitor will try to adjust timings and center the image based on information gathered from the monitor's edid.  Try that.

Thanks Rick...I have tried that a bunch of times in different parts of the boot up process as well as after game has started to no avail. I just forgot to mention it in my original post.

Did you double check the vga cable from the mpu to the monitor?

I sure did and keep in mind that the monitor was working well before I hit that recall setting. I was adjusting horizontal and vertical position and decided to see what "recall" did. I'm really irritated because why would you have a setting that basically makes a monitor unusable without a way to get it back to a previous state.

Disconnect the vga cable, power up, hit the recall button, and auto button with the cable disconnected.  See if anything changes.  Power off, reconnect the vga cable, power up.

Any change?

The monitor buttons do not work with the VGA cable detached. No change.

I can’t remember, but does that monitor have a dvi port and a vga port?  Does your MPU have a dvi port?  If so, maybe try that type of connection just to see if the situation changes.

Jason,

The monitor has a DVI but the CPU does not.

I may have said this before, but I just can't wrap my head around how selecting a menu item on the monitor can permanently change and distort the display. Are you aware of any way to reset the display?

I ordered a clear CF card and a different game so I am wondering if the clear might help. Meanwhile, I just keep plugging at it.

Happen to have another vga cable since we’re somewhat grasping at straws?  Yeah, I’m not sure how the signal would get messed up by the recall function.  Is the initial bios screen during boot up messed up at all?

I would definitely test another cable to be sure.  Also, with the door closed, turn your jackpot key and you should see a diagnostics button to test all of the colors, touch test, grid, etc.  Not really any resets to be done there.

If you have a computer lcd with a vga port, you could connect that and rule out an issue with the monitor or the MPU.

It's 2018... Took some work to dig up another VGA cable, but I found one :Tongue_Out: But alas, no change.

The only thing that appears correctly is the opening dialogue before the MPU starts sending a signal. See this pic. That's why I was wondering if there was a way to reset the bios or complete system.

Did you trying changing your display resolution?  I don't remember the default for the 19" monitors, 600 x 800?

It's in one of the setup menu's, the 640 X 350 in your first pic is not correct.

bpracer...Pardon my ignorance, I'm a newbie with these machines. I can't find it in the display menu like in my first pic. How do I access the setup menus?

I'm on the road and away from any machines, maybe someone else can chime in and walk you through it?
