Title: Bally 6000 83F0 Error: Need Help
Post by: triplepower on May 18, 2018, 07:48:09 PM
I just purchased two 6000's and safe ram clear chips as they both had an 83FF error. Was able to get the one working but having troubles with the other one. Had a battery error and put in a new battery but now has 83F0 error. I've tried the original mains and the original clear chips, where do I go from here? should I buy another set of clear chips? I did take the board from the working machine into the broken one and came up with a reel 2 error because it wasn't calibrated so it appears to be a board issue. Any suggestions?

83F-0 - Invalid SafeRAMâ„¢ EPROM Wrong EPROM's used for SafeRAMâ„¢ Clear.

I would do one or two more ram clears, to start

From your picture, DSW1 should be all off always. #8 is the only one turned on during a RAM clear then it is turned off after the clear.See the attached instructions.

Thank you    I have tried it both ways and still get the same 83f0 error.    Could their be another issue?  I did order another set of clear cards and am going to try it again.

Make sure the two RAM chips are getting battery voltage.

How do I test if they are getting voltage?

With the RAM chips notch facing away from you put the black lead on the lower left pin and the red lead on the upper right pin. There are two RAM chips to the right of the EPROM memory chips.

I tested them and they both have about 2.23volts ea. across the chips

Try swapping the two RAM chips and doing a clear again. You may want to put in fresh batteries also.
