I have been meaning for a while to make a post about this so it could possibly help others down the road, so here it is... :propeller:
So I had a few Atronic Cashline "Sphinx" slots all non-working. :hissyfit: I made one working one for a friend, then had a few left over, all with issues. So I managed to build another out of them but all the monitors were bad or in need of a rebuild. I began looking at the monitor and found ziltch online for the monitor used in these slots but noticed it used a standard VGA connection, so I figured; "Why can't i just drop a 15" computer monitor in this thing?". So I kept an eye out and within a week I had found an old 15" PC monitor on the curb. I pulled the crt and chassis from the monitor cabinet (Make sure to discharge the tube first!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFmKqZji_XM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFmKqZji_XM) ) and then pulled the crt and chassis from the Atronic monitor frame. I then mounted the CRT and chassis from the PC monitor in the Atronic monitor frame and dropped it back into the machine. I now had CRYSTAL clear video which cost nothing! :applause: :applause: I wish all machines used a standard VGA connector. :yes:
I hope this can help someone out who has a monitor that is either dead or in serious need of a rebuild!

Yes, you are correct but you would have to figure out a way to mount it, I attempted it but found the crt route much easier.

i have seen open frame lcds that mount similar to the way the crt mounts in these frames i don't know who well it would work tho. sourcing an LCD specific to mount to the frame would be hard and expensive i would assume.

Nice job.. I wish it were this easy to find a replacement for the earlier IGT video poker machines, Fortune 1&2 models, PE & PE+.. I have seem 15" flush mount LCD computer monitors on EBay for in the $40 range that should work nicely in your machines. I have wondered if a computer monitor would work for me with a conversion board? I've been able to get a few of these old machines working, but I'm having the same problem find a good used CRT that works with the Ceronix Chassis. I wish that there was a list of CRT models that could be used.

There's a sticky thread in the PE+ section on how to convert the PE+ video to use a standard VGA LCD monitor. There's some work involved, but it can be done. :yes:
