Title: Newby and need some help please
Post by: Georgiou600 on June 27, 2021, 05:58:22 PM
Hi,
I’m new to all this and need a bit of guidance on getting a friends machine going. Have had a read through a lot of the posts and the service manual but some guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I’ll start with what happens on start up. When the machine is switched on the belly and button light come on and the screen powers up but only show blue lines across it. After a few minutes it makes a pop sound and the button lights go off and it beeps which I assume indicates an error. The screen stays on and LD1 on the main board continually flashes.

I don’t know much about these machines but it has a MK6 mainboard with an mk6 expansion board on it. One thing I have noticed is it has nothing in the SIMM connector(p23) which I believe is for the communications board, should there be a board in there?

It also has a international driver board (pcba 2501-410415) and a mkV LAB comms board which I assume means it’s amk5 with a mk6 main board.

I went through and made sure all the connections were plugged in correctly and the boards are properly seated but I’m assuming it’s an issue with the display. There looks to be some corrosion on the screen connection to the board and looks as though someone has previously had the screen out. Is there anyway to test this?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers.

MK5 and MK6 both use the same LAB comms board, Aristocrat never bothered updating the silkscreen on the board so all of them say "MK V LAB COMMS BOARD".

So I’ve done some more reading around the place and I’m thinking if I do away with the current tube and Ceronix 2093, do a cga to vga conversion and use a lcd screen that will at least tell me if the display was the issue.

Outside of that it sounds like the power supply would be the next thing to check.
