Just an FYI that I came across for future reference. I have a 5500 with a nickel coin comparitor. The coin comparitor worked fine until recently when the coins kept shooting straight through to the coin tray and wouldn't register as credits like they used to. I read a lot of posts on what to do with a new coin, cleaning, etc. but then I realized that it was because the exit chute at the bottom of the comparitor wasn't aligned with the entry chute of the optics so the coins were getting stuck between the two units. I just had to mess with the brackets a bit to re-align things and all was well. I hadn't known that someone had put in coins before me so there were two in there that blocked the ones I was putting in.
I had removed some of the door components to replace the door lock, so maybe something got moved out of place during replacement.
Might sound like a basic check, but I haven't seen this anywhere else on the forum and it might be of help to others so they don't just jump right into they standard comparitor/optics fixes.
