Can you provide some history on this ROM chip? I too use it but don’t some of the earlier boards require a clear ROM chip that required you to remove and replace with original chip? Was this developed as a shortcut so you didn’t have to swap out chips?

From what I've been told, and it may or may not be 100% accurate, but the DEV0039 Boot Chip, also known as the Developers Boot Chip, was made by IGT for showing their products at Trade Shows, and was not to be released to Casinos or the general public.

The purpose of the "all in one" Chip was to allow the user (host or presenter) to bypass the DSA and SHA Checks for a super fast Boot Time, therefore cutting down on the time it takes to display the game. The cycling of the colored screens takes too much time in a show environment, so it's bypassed by this Chip.

It also incorporates the RAM and EEPROM Clear functions and Keychip functions so the host isn't fumbling around with Keychips to show how to Clear and Set up a game.

That's what I've been told, anyway.
