Ok guys, a little help here. My Alpha 2 pro V32 had WW going and was on and idle for about a week when the main screen went black. Ideck and topper video was working and displaying properly. I shut it down and tried to reboot today still with a black screen. I tried running through the vga port from the topper feed with no success. Used a 24” computer monitor with DVI hookups and it came right up. So my question is we’re do I go from here to try and troubleshoot this, I would definitely rather by a board instead of selling a kidney to get a whole replacement screen. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the AD board is the problem. Could be bad caps on the board or you may be able to just get a replacement board.. What is the part number of the monitor?
-
Jeff, that’s what I am hoping for. I had a little trouble with the monitor starting up cold a few months ago so I kept it running and then this happened. Here a pic of the model info:

You may want to take the back off the monitor and inspect the AD board for bulged caps just to confirm. You can replace them if you are handy with a soldering iron. Another option is to just replace the board. GET has them. Below is a link.

One other thought too is the power board.

Patriot has the board for less

BTW, this machine not an Alpha 2 Pro v32 according to the model number of that monitor. So it's a Alpha 1 Elite conversion then. I had one of those.
-
So, did the Elite come in the same cabinet as the 2? Here’s a pic of the machine and it sure bears the marks of an Alpha 2 unless I am mistaken.

Well the cabinet is Alpha 2 Pro v32 but the model number on monitor is Alpha 1 Elite v32

With the 2011 date on the monitor back, is that when the alpha 2’s came out? I wonder if they used up their elite monitors in the 2 before changing. The monitor has had no problems other than my post. 🤷🏼♂️

Wouldn't a bad AD board report a no signal input on the monitor? When you power on a totally dark room, is the screen grey or totally blacked out. You may have a power supply issue on the monitor, inverter or ccfl issue as well.

That could be Dan, what is the date on the cabinet?

That's why I mentioned power board. Your point about he grey screen or totally black is spot on with the dark room.

Well Tacman.......hate to say I know this story oooooo so well lol. Jeff and Rick know their stuff that's for sure. In my experience the AD board wouldn't make the screen go black. You'd still have a no signal floating around somewhere. Black screen (in my own 9,000 screen issues) is normally power supply on the monitor or ccfl's. The lights on the back of the monitor should help you decipher that most times. But good luck in getting it up and going. If you happen to need another screen it won't cost you a rib lol :rotfl:. I keep some handy because I have screen problems again and again and again....it never ending. But we can work something out if you need to go that route.

Thanks for the response. Yea, new AD board was a no-go. I have an inverter board on the way. We’ll see what happens, if anything. I will contact you if that’s a bust. Thanks again!
