I've got a wave pro with argos 2.4 CPU in it. And I wish to run an older game in it, one I know runs great with the slightly older 2.1 and 2.0 systems.
I've tried putting in bios 231326c, no boot in the newer CPU, I've also tried a few different video cards, they all appear to bootloop at POST. The 2.4 BIOS for argos, of course looks for windows, and fatals errors out.
Is it possible to downgrade the 2.4 box to run 2.1 BIOS?

A yes would be great if matched with a BIOS, video card combo that might work.
A no and I might be in the market for some 2.1 CPUs.

I can confirm that a 2.4 CPU is not compatible with a 2.1 bios.  Halts immediately
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

Thank you. I will proceed to attempt to get the game going on argos, and failing that acquire the 2.1 boxes I'm very familiar with.

Why don't you  just get a Alpha 2 version  of the BIOS for the 2.4 and run the games.  You would have to change out the 4 port video card and add a jurisdiction chip but otherwise it should play the A2 games you want to play on it.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

The Argos Bios in there ABIP0240211A BIOS looks for windows, then errors out when it doesn’t find it (it boots an Argos installed hard drive just fine.) The 231326C BIOS that seems standard in wave pros doesn’t POST regardless of video card that I can determine.
Jurisdiction chips aren’t an issue. I’ve got them and indeed have them in when trying 231326C BIOS.
If there’s a suggestion for a different ALPHA 2 pro BIOS in the 2.4 box that might work I’ll try it.

The 231326C BIOS you are using is not compatible with the 2.4.  Attached is a pic of the bios that was in my 2.4 before I switched it over to play Argos.  So all you need to do is swap out the bios chip.  Boot with a standard Alpha 2 install, do a factory reset and then install the Alpha 2 OS along with your game of choice.  You have to insert the missing Jur chip and change out that 4 port video card to a K620 or a K2000.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....
