ESP 8266 - ESP 32

Hello All


So these little micro controllers have become quite popular lately and are well suited for a SAS project.
* Cheap
* Arduino compatible
* Built in WI-Fi


Only problem is that hardware UARTS do not have 9 bit serial as an option. Currently using some software Serial libs but not having any luck.
Has anybody managed to get these working ?

Ian, i have not tried those yet, i am still using arduino


btw i was zarobhr on the old forums, just got back into things a few months ago
getting ready to try a port my pc based to a mini pc that i can stuff into the top box and support 4-8 slots with
will see how that goes

ESP 8266 working so this makes a <$5 dollar standalone WiFi capable device possible.
Used the D1 Mini which is a nice little board to play around with these chips - $2.20 on Aliexpress.
you will also need and TTL to RS232 converter.

If you are already familiar with Arduino these are pretty easy to get going.

The esp8266 is very cool , I tried it.
But it is in wireless communication, sometimes it lost the packets. In this issue I will not go for it. My Opinion only.

I know this is an old thread but I was wondering if anyone ever got anywhere with this?  I am a newbie to this whole slot thing and have been experimenting with stuff.  I am familiar with using ESP8266 for my Holiday Lighting hobby so I was wondering if this project ever got any traction.
