Title: Want to change game kit....
Post by: 777tow on August 04, 2014, 12:07:28 AM
:EmoticonHelp4: Hi all ! The last time I ever posted on NLG was when NLG was still at .net. Im back and I need some help before I screw it up. As some of you know, I am new to the slot game. I have a S2000 with Triple Stars 2 Coin, Single Line. I recently was able to get ahold of a Crystal Sevens game kit and would like to learn how to remove the Triple Stars and put in the Crystal Sevens. Along with putting in the new kit, I also want the enhanced sounds. I have been reading and I am slightly confused. Does anyone have a step by step on how to change out a game kit? I also need to know what components I need for the enhanced sound. I know DSV00038 Sound Simm for sure. Do I need a multimedia lite board? I took some pictures of the current MPU. Maybe someone can tell from the pic what I need to get this right the first time? Thanks in advance !

MPU Model 1952-2

Current EPROMS on MPU :

Version Chip VSO11GX1

Stepper Base 100010

and the Stepper Game 1 & 2 for Triple Stars.

You may be able to get away with just swapping SB chips and clearing a couple errors. What specific number SG chips do you have? As far as I know there aren't any specific to Triple Stars, but you may need different ones for the Crystal Sevens. And yes, you will need a multimedia lite II board for your sound simm

Welcome back 777tow!

My 3 reel Crystal Seven game consists of SB100097, SG00363, VSO11GX1 and a Multi-media board.
And of course the Award, Reel and Belly glasses with the reel strips.

As long as you have the reel strips and glass all you really need is the SB chip, and it would be a good idea to get a clear and key chip as well. You will need a MML2 board in order to put in a sound card. It looks like you have the stand offs, but I don't see a board on there. I'm not shore what the DSV 38 sounds like but a DSV 42 standard sound simm should work, a lot of times the only real difference is the attract sound.

The stand offs are those little silver screws that the other board's screw go into and also act as a spacer to keep the other board from touching and shorting the board underneath.  They "stand" up to keep "off" the board from above leveled and prevent shorts.

So the swap begins. I installed the glass and reel strips. If I swap the SB chip will the machine work? I am waiting for my clear chip to get here by mail. Advice needed. C7 SB chip is SB100096. Do I need the stepper game chips? Help please....

You do not need different GME chips, the ones you have will work.  Just swap out the SB chips, clear the errors during boot and you should be good to go.

Thanks Rick....now I did that and it seems to work. Only problem is that now my reel strips are off. ALL 3 strips are the same number. How do I line the reel strip on the reel properly? (WE ARE ALMOST THERE !...LOL !)

Make sure the little notch on the strip goes with the little notch on the reels.  If they are properly inserted, then you may have the wrong SB chip? Is the SB chip an original IGT chip, or a copy.  If it is a copy it may have been mis-labeled?  SB100096 is for a 2 coin Crystal 7's/Sizzling 7x pay and others.  Is that what you have?

Rick...thank you for your help ! I had to run the strip inside the groove to find the notch, but I found it. The game is playing correctly now. I appreciate you and everyone else that chimed in. You guys are truly invaluable to a rookie like me. I learned a lot of things which may be basic to you guys/gals, but hard for a newbie like me. Thanks again ! Will be back when the MML 2 board comes in if I have problems....
