Title: Sigma PT-4B - Groan
Post by: Danial on October 22, 2021, 11:00:44 PM
Well, hoping I didn't end up with a goose-egg here.  This unit worked fine when I tested it at the people's house where I bought it.  We loaded it up on a truck, brought it home and now it says "Hopper Empty" and "Tilt".  I filled the hopper full-up above the probes.

I have gone through the manual a few times looking for anything that addresses the TILT.   The only thing I can find is a test for checking that the TILT LEDs are functioning but that's it.

We moved the unit on its back as that made it easier to get it in and out of the truck so maybe something mechanical moved to activate the tilt?  I know how EM pinball machine tilts function.  Are these similar?

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.  I have checked connections, reset multiple times, cleared out the hopper and refilled it.
I can't help but think it's something that occurred during transport.

If you said that you laid it on it's back to haul it home, you need to check and make sure that no coins, screws or nothing is shorting anything out. Pull the hopper out and made sure there are no coins jammed in the coin feed out. Did you do a reset on the machine? Is it a poker or a reel machine? Pictures of the machine inside and out would be helpful.

I thought I had cleared it out pretty good but yeah, I do need to take the hopper out next.  It's a reel machine and unfortunately, I am unable to post pics at this time.   (Not because I don't know how, but because I have a gimphed phone and can't email pics to myself from it.)  And yes, I've reset it a couple dozen times.

Thanks for the suggestion on the hopper.  I'll check that out today.

Do you have a manual?

There should be a reset key on the right side of the game, turn it towards you and release.

Do you have a manual?
Yes.  As mentioned in the OP, I have been through it a number of times.

Sorry missed that. And the manual has a trouble shooting guide?

The only reset key I'm aware of on this machine is under the armrest.  This is a slant top model.

If there is anyone who would trust me with their phone number in PM, I am able to text photos, I just can't email them to myself to UL here.  It's a long story, but I can't add apps or send emails from my phone.  (Thanks Google and Android.)

I do appreciate everyone who is chiming in here with suggestions!

It does.  It seems to be a pretty concise and complete manual, courtesy of another user on this site from an old thread.

I will remove the hopper later today as Z71OFFROAD (great screen name, btw) suggested and see if I can find a jam or any wayward nickels shorting something out.  I'll report back after I have done that.  Thanks guys.

Well finally made time to remove the hopper last night.  I can see a few nickels tucked here and there at the back that I'll need to figure a way of getting out without gutting the machine.  (I'm almost old and fat and my reach isn't what it used to be.) And there are plenty of other niches where they could be hiding that I can't see.  I'll remove the ones I can see and put it back together.  If it works, great.  If not, I'll move on to something else.
