Hello everyone, thanks for the useful information you post here.
I am in the same situation with my S Plus. error 21. What is the voltage that must reach the optics board to be able to check? I don't know if it is due to having the door open or error 21 when turning on the equipment. but 24Vac does not arrive at the 4th pin of the CC.

Dear community, I have an IGT S PLUS that worked perfectly until a while ago. one day without anyone touching it, when turning it on it showed error 21.
I don't know if it's normal that when I see the CC it doesn't have the green light on. I tried giving it the direct 24Vac and it turned on but not connected to the harness. I tested the cables and at PIN4 (yellow cable) I don't have 24 Vac. but 3. Could it be this? Also check the optical board with an old camera to see if the led sensors emit anything at all. Finally I press the little white button and nothing happens either.
I don't know what to try anymore.

I don't know if it's normal that when I see the CC it doesn't have the green light on.
That LED can be other colors too...I have some coin comparitors that are red.
On the CMI coin comparitor, the LED only comes on when there are zero errors after the reels spin and the MPU senses that the main door optics are in a closed state.

Pull off the comparitor connector, stick it out the bill validator opening and close the door.
Now check the 4th pin for 24VAC.

Hello, my CC has a Green LED. When I give it 24Vac, it turns on the light very strongly (image1)
When I connect it to the harness, the purple cable lights up more dimly (image 2) but if I connect it correctly, everything to the harness does not light up. Maybe it will be because of what they indicate to me that there is an error.
I also attach last image of my optical board. I don't know what voltage it takes so I can test it.

I believe you can get into the self test mode ( open door, press white button next to power switch). press the button until you see 10_1, this is testing the three optics, see FAQ, How to guide for Optic test. do the test and see what results you get.
several things can give you a 21 code . one of the pins on the 10 pin connector associated with the three optics could be not making a good connection, same connector issue as the power connector on the motherboard. hold the connector so you can look into the connector openings, shin a flashlight into the wire end, you will see if there is a gap opening on any of the pins, undo that pin and reshape so there is no gap.
other item is Q-2 or Q-4 is causing a ground on the first optic, I see on the boards you pictured has Q-2, remove it, might solve your problem.

Hi Jim, thanks for your lengthy message.
I did the test, as I found in a post of yours. Once in 10_1 I insert something between the optics and I don't receive the 0, when advancing to 11 the same thing. When advancing the 12 does not appear. It continues at 0. Will I have to change the optics plate? If I understand correctly, can you tell me to remove Q2 or replace it? Thanks again.

somewhat confused, you stated once in 10_1 they remain at zero?? does the display show 10_1, 11_1, 12_1, or 10_0,11_0,12_0.
makes a difference, also when in 11_1 test, you can press the tiny white button on the optics board and it should change to 0.
don't remove anything until we get the display information correct.

Hi Jim,
When I reach 10_1, I insert a coin between the optical plate sensors with a paddle but it doesn't change the 1 for 0. (I also try pressing the small white button 3 times and that doesn't work either). I press the test button again and the screen changes directly to 00 in WP and a 2 appears in Bet Chips. I do not receive 11_1, 12_1, 11_0 or 12_0

Hi Jim, sorry for the previous message. I was doing tests and it turns out that I had the jackpot reset key wrong. I just managed to change it.
I do the input test and I receive 10_1, I put a coin between the optical sensors and nothing changes, I touch the small white button and nothing changes, I turn the key, I receive 11_0 I try again by inserting a coin and touching the small white button and there are no changes, the same thing happens when I turn the key and I get 12_0.

sounds as if "sunrise side" in reply #2 was correct, maybe defective optic board.
I have those available if you need one.

Hi Jim, thanks to your message yesterday I tried a borrowed board and that seems to be it. because I was able to use the slot after many months. from time to time it came out 21, but I think it could be the one they lent me. How much is a new one? Thanks for the help!

Ouch.... I shipped a bunch of computer switches, routers, etc from Canada to Argentina last year, and it took about 6mths in customs to get the equipment admitted.
Not sure how far you are from Brazil but if you can ship to someone there its way easier to pick up the materials and walk it in.

Yes, it is really complicated to import some things. Unfortunately the Brazilian border is about 1,300 miles from where I live.
I was able to get a used optical card in good condition on Friday and luckily my slot has definitely revived. Thanks for the help!

Both are big countries - that is why I asked.
My inlaws are in Sao Paulo and the drive to BA is >14hrs but there are cites that are relatively close.
My company has offices throughout Argentina but with Covid I have not been over for several years.
