Title: Are these sounds normal for Universal reel games?
Post by: Wayout440 on October 19, 2023, 04:14:26 AM
I've been curious about this for awhile.  The normal sound on a two credit spin sound is two tones, but I also get a sound like an explosion about half the time.  Normal?  Video at link.  Thanks, Wayout.

I was cleaning out my Google Drive and deleted it, it was up for over 5 weeks and nobody responded.  If I get a chance I will post again.

Stars & Stripes.  Video on YouTube.  Some button press starts are two beeps, others are this single explosion type of sound.

They sound normal to me. I had Universals years ago and that is what they sounded like.

yes, those are normal sounds for the sound chips on your board. there are other sound chips that produce different sounds, problem would be , who would have them available.

You have the dual sound chips 8953.0004 and 8953.0005.

I used to call it a "whoosh" sound.

There is no documentation on what sound chips can be used for different Universal games. I experimented years ago and found the Master or System chip calls for each sound.
The newest sound chips had reel spin sound. The 8953-0050 with the 8953-0022 was the best IMO.

Experimenting with sound chips I found the oldest System/Master chips would never call for reel spin sound. And others would start the reel spin sound and never stop it. Even after the reels stopped. I believe the games that had the "whoosh" sound were the ones that reel spin sound would never stop.
