Hi everyone! I'm late, as usual, but I made it. So here's my fourth post and first open one.

I was going to suggest that we have a button to toggle between showing SMS code and showing formatted text in the reply box, but I see that we already have one! Silly me. It's the last button on the right in the second row. COOL.

Well you DID make it though. Blame it on rough seas, a broken compass, and a bent sextant.
Then again, maybe you shouldn't talk about your bent sextant.  ;D  <--- seriously need our other smileys!  ;)

Filling in your profile helps locating your buddies and lets you know if he/she is a senior citizen like me. ;D
Us old folks need more help :stirthepot: .  It's always nice to know who you are helping and not communicating with a computer or like talking to a recording. Not so friendly states you can put USA, North, South, West or East if you like. Also helps if you are trying to sell something..

The new site does look very nice. I'm back on the site and enjoy everyone's help and information. I've slowed down on slots for the moment as I need to finish a guitar for my father. In addition, I am about to start to concert size ukuleles for my Niece who will be married in the fall. Sheesh, where does all my time go?

Take care,

Philip

I just found the new board and found I had to register my user name and create a new account even though I have been on the board since 2010.

My new profile shows me as a new user since Today and it shows I have left zero posts.

Just wondering if it can be fixed so it shows that I have been on since 2010 when I really started.  :Scratch-Head:

The New Site looks great!

Since I had to register again, I thought this was a good time to change my username.  When I originally signed up in 2009, I did not know what to expect so when I had to pick a username, I simply just chose my initials - MAH, not knowing if I was ever going to visit the site again.  Boy was I wrong.

I probably have not missed a day, at least checking in to see whats happening.  I have made a lot of friends, some of which I have meet in person including KirkLasVegas, Jim @ Bettor Slots, and TollGuy, not to mention visiting Joey at the command center.

The help and advice of members here over the years gave me the inspiration and confidence to start my own small business.  You guessed it, refurbishing and selling slot machines.  I continue to learn something new all the time and always turn to NLG when I'm stumped.  Special thanks to one member in particular (you know who you are) for all the encouragement and support over the years.

NLG - Live Long and Prosper.

Quotes from Joey "Well Guys the software we are using to run the site is SMF 1.1.9
SMF 1.1.9 Was EOL last year. "End of life"  "No more Updates" and Recently important updates were released for MSQL Ver 5.5.33"

"We are planning on keep the old site up for as long as the database will last.
But will be Disable new postings after May 1 2014 on the old site" or earlier

I would like to welcome the many new comers to our new site.  There are so many I can't list them.  You have found the best site on the net if you are looking for friendly information on your coin operated machine at home.  We also have many techs that help us too! So if you are like me sometimes it gets a little over my head.  We like to know a little about your back ground when we talk to you so we know we are talking to a newbie or a seasoned tech.  Filling in your profile helps a lot, as some have already done.  As most figured out, read, read, read, there is so much helpful info here.  It just takes a little time to find what you are looking for.  Joey, our New Life Game Administrator and founder has made it a little easier to navigate though this large site. Many other Administrators are willing to help when they can, and thousands of other fine members. We tend to have a little fun along the way as you will see, all work and no play makes for a dull life, or something like that.

Welcome aboard everyone!

Hello everyone, Newbie here…. I just  purchased my first Slot Machine last week. Great information here and it lead me to buy from SamRonslots. Also they had the machine I wanted. . It is a WMS 5 reel mechanical Monkees machine.
It arrives this week and it is for my wife's birthday. Will not see it for a couple weeks because I am traveling and will not be home till after the first of August. Wife knows nothing about it, she will be surprised.
Just a couple questions:
I believe this is a Bluebird 1 model?
I want to add a topper to it, will only a WMS (Williams) model fit without modifications?
I am a retired Biomedical Engineer so I have should have no problem working on electronic or mechanical devices, so I can do the work myself. As soon as I get the machine set up I will let everyone know how everything is working. So far Ron at SamRonslots has been great. Bob

LED chasing lights working and the DOT MAtrix LED board working again. anyways. hope to be here for a while... and hope to finish my custom slot machine at some point. thanks again
love the new look.

Another new guy. Been heavily into pins for some time. Sold a couple at the show in Houston this past weekend and being as I cannot seem to leave a show empty handed I picked up 3 WMS dotmations at the swap meet. I figured this would be a great resource to see just how bad of a deal I have gotten myself into!  (Jackpot Party, reasonably complete.  Jackpot Stampede Deluxe, no CPU, no lower power supply. Perfect Match, no CPU, no lower power supply.)

Good day everyone.  I came across the forum today.  I picked up a slot machine at an auction today.  Of course I'm all excited to get it home and start playing the one armed bandit and I get an error code.  I guess I 'm going to have to read up on how these things tick because I'm a total newb.  From what I've gathered so far I have a 2003 IGT square top upright which came from Trump Plaza in NJ machine name is "Reel Detectives".  If anyone can point me into the newb section, where no question is a dumb question.  Chips, optics, reset, it all sounds so scary.  :EmoticonHelp4: ILK

Sounds like an S2000. Have the little speakers on each side about ear level? If so post there and you'll find all the help you need. And welcome aboard! It's S2000 and vision games.

And there are no dumb questions....when you don't know the answer.

Yes it's an S2000.  Solved my first problem on my own, and then ran into another shortly after. Already posted my first question in the s2000 subforum.  Thanks.  ILK

Hey there from Canada! I am known as MaxWar on various gaming forums.

I found this forum while looking for repair logs and PCB cleaning advices.

I am 32 and collect retro gaming items since 2010. I have a fondness for repairing stuff.
I also like arcade boards. So far I have only saved a NBA JAM board but recently I purchased a bundle of Non working Jamma boards for cheap.
I hope I can get at least one going!  Hope to be sharing the process with you.

Hi Maxwar.  Good to see you have an interest in retro gaming.  NBA Jam is a great game, I'm interested in what  Jamma boards you picked up.  Love to see projects in the works.

Thanks for the warm greeting guys!

The batch I just got is consisting of 9 unidentified non working jamma boards. Managed to get this for about 50$ shipped.
I could ID some but not all; ranges from bootleg/crap to very interesting psykio shmup. :p
I haven't done any more than a preliminary survey on them but in the next days I will take a good picture of each board and do a visual assessment of what it is and of any visible damage.
I am not an electronic expert but I am normally good enough to not make things worse. Got a steady hand and good equipment for soldering, about to purchase a rom programmer.

In my opinion check out the TL866A programmer. They are USB, relatively cheap, and work really well. Make sure you download the latest software upgrade (I think it's 6.10) and of course the 'chingless' directions are a little tough to deal with but you really don't need them.

Hehe, did you by any chance watch the video review of the TL866CS on eevblog? :p

It does seem like a good programmer for a low price, are you aware of a way to use 42 pins DIP roms on it though? Someone one another forum made me aware that it is not well suited to larger roms such as the 42 bin 27c322.

Not sure about 42 pin but I believe the A model can do 48 pin with an adaptor. The largest chips I program are 40 pin.
So I'm really not sure.

Holy crappeth! Is there ever a boat load of info on this site!!! :odie:
I recently bought a Valhalla IGT 044 slot machine and already started pulling boards out and customizing it to fit my needs or more importantly, the look and feel of the machine.

I have many questions that needs some pointers so be sure to check out for this newbie. Many thanks for those who will take the time to either scold me or help me. All will be appreciative to say the least.

Dont know what a Valhalla machine is, although well acquainted with an IGT 044?? :Scratch-Head:

Not much you can do to customize the game by pulling boards, but good luck to ya! I really hope you mean you are just setting up the limits and payout options you want. Either way, welcome to NLG! Glad you finally found us!

Valhalla is the God of the Vikings. My customizations will be running the games I want, changing the belly plates, toppers and so on to have the graphics I want to show. Should I ever decide to part with the machine, I will keep all the original parts to put it as it was.
This site has lots to offer that is for sure. I've been lurking for the past month but decided to join so I can ask for help on certain IGT related things. Also, I know how to build arcade cabinets (MAME), pinball cabinets (Future Pinball or PINMAME) and more. I am a firm believer that if you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. Maybe that came from my years in the armed forces!

Oh, is this the place where I introduce myself?

Well, my name is Alexandre and I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
I'm an old time arcade, game and computer repairmain, being present since most of the beginning of the computers and game industries in Brazil.

Had lots of taito Pinballs (I was the janitor of www.pinball-taito.com.br (http://www.pinball-taito.com.br) site, if someone remembers this) which distributed most of taito pinball knowledge existent around the world). The site doesn't exists anymore, but the info is still displayed on my site, albeit redundant.

Wrote some repairfaq.org articles, nothing special

Have a 90's site about computers and games - www.tabalabs.com.br (http://www.tabalabs.com.br)

Still have a collection of computers and videogames, some 160 of them.

Here I am to learn more. Discovered the site looking for Neo Geo repair info

Greetings from Brazil! :)

Hi all!

Just bought my first Slot on Sunday, and now my second last night!

Already have TITO deluxe boards coming from Jim.  This forum has been a major source of new slot owner knowledge so far...Thank you to all that have shred their knowledge here...Very much appreciated.

I currently have a 5 reel Double Red Hot 777 machine (round Top), and a Triple Stars 3 reel.

Still want to get a Nudge machine or a Haywire.  Any recommendations?

I just acquired my first slot machine for my wife last Christmas - a Triple Diamond Haywire...just installed backlit reels myself a week ago, it is the talk of the neighborhood and so much fun to play.

I will soon be posting pictures of my dedicated home theater/game room.  Problem is, I want to buy more slot machines so I think I am going to have to turn my whole basement into a home Casino!

Again, great site and I look forward to being an active member.

That's a great game! Congrats on the start of your collection,,, trust me you won't stop with one :)
Make sure you get a reset key ( goes in the side of the machine to reset jackpot payouts, and other things)
Also buying a ram clear chip before you need it is always nice too, so you won't have to wait if you need it in the future.

Have fun!

Welcome EVERYONE new here...

It would be great if ALL of you filled out your profile - even just a little bit. Knowing your location is nice (or at least the general location). Maybe add a little about what you do for work (grave digger, bartender, cardio-thoracic surgeon, IGT specialist). Write a little on what you do for fun/sports (drink wine, collect electrical insulators, walk hamsters, drink wine, speed skate, collect slot machines, drink wine, drink wine)
Adding all this stuff makes you much more of a person to all of us, rather than just an IP address, and that you're a male. (Females are always welcome too, unless your a 6-foot 9-inch Hawaiian stripper named Mindy Kmonawannalaya).
All kidding aside... PLEASE FILL OUT YOUR PROFILE.  :applause: It really does help.

I want him to be able to sell some things and also at the same time if you guys are looking for parts he can help on that front ( I frankly dont have time ) Mainly it will be common things such as Toppers and tons of glass we have around here... we have a profile setup for him... If theres a fee to post ( thats not an issue ) then please let us know so I can pay it and be on our way. I'll have him write an intro as soon as we get everything up and running

Appreciate your time

Hello!
Your site was recommended by the friend I purchased my first slot machine from!  Still trying to figure out how to navigate around (both your site and my machine).

I got a IGT Triple Double Stars.  I think it's a S2000. It's in great working order but I would like to eventually get new "reel strips" if that's the correct term.  The numbers are a bit faded.
It also has a printer for ticket cash out.  I'd like to load that with paper and get it operational.
Is there anything I can check before I just go and order paper?  I have no ideal what it will say but is there a way to change what gets printed on it?  Like the casino name?

So, I have my machine and found this site.  Is there anything else I should be doing?  Parts sites?  Instructional sites?  Checking on my machine??

I'll try and find the appropriate places to post those questions but I just really wanted to say hello while I wait my turn on my slot machine!

Hello!
Your site was recommended by the friend I purchased my first slot machine from!  Still trying to figure out how to navigate around (both your site and my machine)....

Hello and Welcome to NLG!

If you could post a photo of your machine it would make it easy to positively identify it, plus we could see your reel strips and the paytable glass, that would make sure of which reel strips you need. There are some games that have similar strips, don't want to get the wrong ones. Posting or attaching a photo is easy. When you are creating a message and still have the message box open look right below it. Written in green is the phrase "Attachments and other options". Click on it and a dropdown menu will appear allowing you to choose the picture file from your computer that you want to upload. To do more than one photo you click on "more attachments". After telling the system which photos to upload then you click on "Save" and your comment plus the photos will get posted.

NLG is divided into many different areas of interest, and different slot machines have their own area so things can be better organized. In each area the discussion threads are sorted from newest to oldest, except at the very top there are some permanent (sticky) postings that are of valuable or frequently referenced interest, so they are kept handy.

Below is the S2000 discussion area (aka forum), so as you have the time you can read the other discussions (threads) there and begin learning more about your machine:

http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?board=81.0 (http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?board=81.0)

The NLG homepage has several reliable slot machine vendors that can help with many of the parts you may need. Also there are plenty of slot machine parts on dear old ebay and a variety of websites. You will see them mentioned as you read some of the threads here. Someone here will probably be able to recommend a source of printer paper for your tickets. You might want to get a manual for your machine just to read thru it and learn more. Most people download the manual and keep in on their computer but there are places where you can buy a hardcopy version, or you can print your own from the downloaded one. If you do that check the size of the manual first, some of them are hundreds of pages.

Looks like an S2000 to me.
I brightened your photo a little so I could see more detail.
Good Luck on your search for reel strips, someone should have them.
And enjoy it, they are a lot of fun for family and friends.

How common are Bally slots in the UK? What kind do you have? There's plenty of categories here to post questions on your slot.

Hello. My name is jimmy, I'm an ole guy, just turned 60. I've been in the gaming repair business since around 1980. In 2000 I opened up my own repair shop and have been repairing all kind of electronic equipment. Old arcade games, monitors - LCD & CRT, video game boards, poker boards, just about anything that has an electronic board in it. I have been doing component level repair since 1980 and I'm always up for a challenge. I finally fixed an old Summit reel slot for a home customer after finding parts to the control and cpu boards. My latest project is fixing a bunch of old Omega 903 and 904 boards. I've worked on then at previous places I worked before going on my own but had to start all over collecting data and making a test jig. I'm also a musician/composer. I just played a reunion concert with an old band from 1976 that I was in and it looks like we will be doing some more concerts. I built my own modular synthesizer way back in 1973, designed some of the circuits, etched all the circuit boards, and it still sounds great after not firing it up for almost 35 years. I'm so back into it I'm building and adding on more modules. lol
Anyway, I'm glad I found this forum and sorry for probably to much info about myself.
~jimmy

Hi Jimmy
"Modular synthesizer"
Interesting. By chance do you like the group "Yes" and specifically Rick Wakeman?
I was just reading a little on the early synthesizers.
Title: Re: The NLG Welcome Wagon
Post by: jimmydmusic on May 13, 2016, 04:55:52 PM
Hi! Yes a modular synth. I just designed some new modules for it, sent the gerber files off to a board house and got them back and I've been stuffing parts on the pcb's today.
Back in '73 I heard "Switched on Bach" and also ELP (Emerson. Lake, and Palmer) first and got the synth bug then. I heard "Yes" later an of coarse I liked them also. But Keith Emerson really brought the modular synth to the progressive rock and classical rock scene.

Sorry, hi Dave! Nah, actually better sounding then Moog. Most of the circuits I used, plus some of my own design, were from a newsletter started by Bernie Hutchins from Ithaca NY and he called it "Electronotes". He's still onlone with some of them archived and others you can purchase from his website. This was back in the early 70's through the 80's. Others donated their designs also in the newsletter. Great stuff.

Awesome. I'm thinking back in those days.....Shows my age. The Moog was the thing. I'm glad to see someone who has improved on the technology. The '70s were a long time ago and unfortunately I graduated in the middle.    :cool_thumb_up:

Hello everyone, Small time slot machine owner, I'm 23 and have been around these machines all my life. They are 1 of my 3 hobbies (Drag Racing/EFI calibrator as a side job/Slot Gaming) Trying to learn more about them Through forums and this is the first one I remember a fellow member telling me about a few years back, I stumbled upon the old website an hour ago LOL. took me a bit to make it on over to this forum and register.. Anyways, I'm happy to be on board and ready to dig through the technical articles As I have a few machines I'd like to repair on my own and branch off from having to rely on someone to make it right.. Thanks for having me

Hi,
newbie here. Well newbie to joining I actually used the site for good info for years. never had to ask any qustions because all the answers were in here some place I just had to take the time find them. So thank you all for the advise over the years. I've been able to keep my S+ working for years. well.. until now. I know what my issues are thanks to the site im just tired of over paying for parts that usualy dont work or fail soon after so I am hoping to find a source for parts and offer out my knowldge that I've learned which isnt much but hopefully enough to help out and give back some.

thank you

Hello all,

I'm a full time arcade and vending tech and I've been with the same company in Corpus Christi, TX for the last 5 years. I mainly work on arcade games and video monitors, but slot machines and other coin op pieces come my way too.

I'm also on KLOV forums under the same name.

I think I used to have an account here, but I only had a handful posts and it seems to have disappeared.

Well, I figure since I've: 1) already received tremendous help from this site; 2) already bought several things from a vendor on this site; and 3) already became a "Contributing Member", I should stop in here and say hello.

My wife bought us our first slot machine for my birthday - it's a 17" Round Top IGT Game King.  Originally came with Game King 6.2 software but I've already replaced the flashboard with Super Star Poker (thanks Jim from blueridgeslots) and got an extra 044 board + legacy adapter + Tabasco video slot (thanks again Jim from blueridgeslots).

I'm loving learning about this machine and all the options I have to expand.  Already thinking about my next machine!   :applause:

So, hello and thanks everyone for making this such a great, informative place for the home slot enthusiast!

Hi y'all! This may be the first post I've made but I want to start by thanking everyone who had posted before me for all the advice I've been able to pick up from this site! I've been trying to fix an error on a friend's slot machine off and on for a few months and have learned all about the platform and how it works thanks to reading old posts here. Huge thanks to the admin I spoke with over the phone who gave me some valuable tips as well! I still have a few more things to fix on the machine and will make a post documenting the troubles I found when I can get back to the machine to collect pictures / video of the problems in action.

With a limited budget and a plenty of tinkering patience I'll hopefully be able to share advice and experience, and gather it.  :fryingpan:

Hi, new slot owner and user here. This looks like a great place to learn about the machine and how to work on it when necessary. I picked up an S-2000 Triple Double Diamond before Christmas and for the most part all is OK. I would post a picture but apparently it's above my skill level here.  :Scratch-Head:

Welcome to NLG Mark!

Posting a photo is pretty easy after you get thru it the first time. Take your photo with your camera and transfer it to your computer and know where it is stored,  you can also use a mobile device that has a camera. Then you open a comment box on NLG to make a posting like normal. When you are entering the new comment/message just look under the comment box and you will see a statement in green that says "Attachments and other options". Click on that and more choices will appear. Click on "Choose File" and a popup will appear on your screen for you to chose the photo file you wish to post. Select the photo and then click on  "Open". That will put the name of the photo file into the filename input field below your NLG comment. Lastly, click on "Post" at the bottom of your comment like normal, your comment and the photo will get posted.

It works best if the photo files are not huge, otherwise viewers will have a delay waiting for the photo to appear.

Mark,  :NLG_WELCOME:  One thing you will need to look at is to see if the green varta battery is still on your mpu board. These batteries will leak in time and possibility ruin your board. These batteries are not needed for home use. If you have a 500 series board you can remove just the battery, if a enhanced board 1270 you will need to also remove u-16. Post a pic of your mpu board and we can see what you have. Remember make sure the power is OFF before removing any components.

Well I just wanted to say hello.

I'm a member of a few other forums about moonshine and old cub tractors
and they always want your 1st post to be an introduction of yourself to the other members.
so here I am.
After a life long fascination starting when I was about 12 (an uncle had an old one armed bandit in his den)
I'm happy to say I've finally bought my first slot machine. It's a IGT S+ Double Black Jack.
I found it online at what I thought was a price to good to pass up. It was an 8 hour drive there.
So I found a motel and made arrangements to pick it up in the morning and then headed home.
Well, that was 3 days ago and we been playing this thing round the clock since.
Enough about me already. But I hope to learn a lot about slots.
and maybe meet a few people who have an interest in buying/selling/repairing slots machines

Well have a good day

If you go to "MODIFY PROFILE" and then "LOOK AND LAYOUT" you can change your settings to show the newest at the top.
Most of us end up reading sometimes LONG threads so it just looks better to read down rather than up, but the choice is yours according to your preference.

Hello to all. I just bought my first machine. It is a Bally Game Maker machine. The only problem so far is it giving a coin error, I have cleaned the comparator out per advice on this board and it has reduced the error considerably. As a bonus the machine came with 1500 tokens.

If you haven't already done so I would turn the coin comparitor sensitivity adjust all the way counter-clockwise. This will reduce the number of rejected coins. This adjustment is on the front lower-right corner of the coin comparitor.

Also, the coins/tokens you insert need to be the same type as the "sample" (example) coin that is installed in the comparitor. You can't use a mixed lot of tokens just because they are the same size, their metal properties have to be the same also.

Hey guys, greetings from Brisbane Australia.

Have a Aristocrat mk5 Exceed and a new IGT AU1 (not sure if you guys call it something different over in the US as a comparison). checked out the site as a visitor and have convinced myself i need to get one of those chip burner things so i can start downloading and changing the roms in my machine. Currently have NSW setup chips and 4 games that work with them that i can switch whenever i please but hoping to get more in the future. Have Spring Carnival, Wheres the Gold, Big Red and Red Baron. Hoping to Add Miss Kitty (for the wife) and More Chilli.

Hopefully i can pick up some information off you guys as to what chip burner thing is the best for the 42 pin chips i need and hopefully find a place to download the roms and start tinkering.

The IGT Au1 i have is a bit of a work in progress. its locked to QCom so trying to find standalone software and whatever i need to get that running as well. Little bit more difficult to get that sort of stuff over here but hopefully i am on the right track!

Cheers and thanks for the help in advance!

Hi Everyone. I first found this site a few weeks ago after buying my first machine, an S series IGT Triple Diamond (this board helped me keep my sanity during Thanksgiving at the in-laws). Yesterday I bought a Bally 5500 machine (I think) that needs some work, so I decided it was time to join. Really enjoying having something new to earn about and looking forward to learning from all of you!

Thanks,

Bob welcome to NLG. The triple diamond could actually be an early S+ machine, as they both look the same from the outside. If you are curious about the TD post a pic with the door open. Post about the Bally in that forum. If it's incorrect, someone will move it for you. Glad to have you aboard.

Hello! I am a new member here! I found this site during my search for a manual for a WMS 550 video slot I am going to be buying. The name of the slot is "Money Groove" This new to me unit will join the other 'toys' that are in my 'man cave', and those are:
Bally Super Continental EM slot machine
National Vending candy vending machine
Rowe/AMI CD-51 jukebox
Gottlieb EM 'Baseball' pinball machine
....along with over 500,000 baseball & football cards!
Any advice & information you can give on the WMS unit that will be coming soon (and any of our other toys!) would be great!
Thanks for having this forum! Looks like you people are very helpful from what I have read so far. As soon as I figure out how to post pics of the man cave toys I will post them!

Welcome to NLG, sounds like you already have a room full of fun, with more on the way!

A good start on your WMS-550 machine knowledge would be to read thru the discussions found in the WMS-550 area as you have time. This is in the general category of WMS Video style slot machines (instead of the spinning reel type), so there are other models in that area also. Here is the WMS Video slot machine area:

Well,
First of all hello and thanks for allowing me to join. A little about how I got here. My neighbor had this machine, wife is having a yard sale and well it “Had to go”.  I’m a single guy starting my “Man Cave House” took it. He said he had it for a year or so said it had run.  Well I now have it and am going to try to get it working again.
About me. I have no experience with these machines. I’m less than a laymen. It’s going to be ”This thing” or it looks like_____. So please be nice while I get my feet wet.
Anyone want to help a guy out?

Welcome to NLG Brett.

There is lots of help here, you will need to describe any problems as best you can or post photos showing what you will be asking about, otherwise it is much harder for anyone to make accurate suggestions to fix the problem. I'd start by posting a photo of your machine so we know exactly what you have. Show a clear photo of the outside, then open the main door and post a photo or two of the inside of the machine. Once we know what model machine you have then your questions can be posted in the specific part of the website for that machine, that way your questions will get the largest amount of attention.

The good news is that most slot machines were built rugged, they have to stand up to people playing and sometimes banging on them 24/7 while in the casino. So if it worked not long ago there may not be too much you have to do to get it working again.

Now here is what I have:
Black & White Double Jackpot
Mdl # S63M3CT10
Manufactured 5/97
When you turn it on this is what happens
Lower cabinet lights up but not the light behind the payout glass.
The coin comparator green light does not light.
The circuit board just below that has a yellow light it is on.
The metal box just below the wheels the reset red light keeps blinking. (I don’t have a key to open this area).
The coin hopper thing at the bottom keeps making a click click noise. There are two little push buttons on the left side also on the left side there is a red and green light, these are both blinking.
I do not have any keys for this machine. The front right side lock is missing. I don’t have one to get into the metal box with the blinking red reset light. I don’t have a key for the key switch on the right side, high and towards the back.

I'll post some pic's tonight

Hi Everyone and all members of NLG.
I've landed on this forum many times in my GOOGLE search for slot machine parts.  So tonight I took the time to sign-up.
I've been working in the slot industry for the best part of my life.  Not at a any casino, but as a supplier of game artwork to casinos and the major manufacturers, such as IGT, Aristocrat, Universal (Aruze), WMS etc.
As from beginning 2017 I became involved in the sourcing of slot parts, new and refurbished for our casino clients.
I'm here to learn from all you guys & gals about ad boards, power supplies, monitors, card readers etc etc.
I hope to make a positive contribution to the forum.
I've read the T&C's and ask your help & patience to use this forum correctly.
If I need some shouting at, please do so .. OUT LOUD (I don't mind)
Best to all

When you say you've been involved in game artwork for slot machines I take that to mean the design and manufacture of the upper, lower and reel glass? If so that's an interesting line of work.

On some slot machines the jurisdiction of the software is coded into the software itself. On other machines there is a separate jurisdiction control chip that is not part of the game software. So it varies. If you own a machine and it is setup for a particular jurisdiction that can usually be changed if needed.

Welcome to NLG!    :waving_flag:

Do you know what kind of machine you'd like to get? They come in many types, from older to newer styles, different games and from different companies like IGT, Bally, etc. Some have spinning reels, others use a video display (like a tv screen). Some are slot games, others are poker.

Looking at a couple S2000's now. They are fairly cheap and take and will dispense coins, most important for a mancave. Looks like there is plenty of info out there to fix/ replace everything on these machines. Eventually I would like to get into some older, non-electrical type. I like to tinker and recently got a 1930 cash register running again, so I think my next adventure will be a slot.

Hi Folks,

New here and anxious to find and read the forums. I have a home arcade in progress with a several weathered classics almost everyone of them could use some love and refinement and some fixing. Some just have band-aid solutions as I fixed them up and try to maintain them. Hope this turns out to be a great site discovery for me. All the Best!

hello everyone.  I just purchased a new S+ haywire machine.  I have been looking for this machine for a while.  It as the first machine I played on my 18th Birthday and finally after over 20 years I found one near me for a steal.  It has a few issues but it does currently work. Just needs some updating.

Looking forward to learning what I can here and also hoping to add a few more machines to my collection soon.

Be careful if you leave your machines alone in the dark they will multiply rapidly.
It's like magic.

I always loved Haywire! I won $400 on the SAME machine twice in Las Vegas. Yes be careful... when you get one machine, they have a tendency to multiply like  :bunny2: :bunny2: :bunny2:

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to say hello and thank you all already.  I've read through what I could as I was trouble shooting some of our games. My family started collecting slots a couple years ago and we currently have the following:

WMS Bluebird 2 - Wizard of Oz Ruby Red Slippers
WMS Bluebird - Reel 'Em In
IGT S2000 - 5 Reel Cleopatra
IGT S2000 - 3 Wheel Money storm
IGT - 3 Wheel (Currently can't remember what it is but it's multi-denominational)

Had to do our first ram clear and reinstall of the WMS Bluebird 2 and need to do a battery swap on the Money storm.  But this site has already been a tremendous help!

I look forward to reading through the forums and getting to know all of you all.

Thanks again.

Hello, everyone.
I recently bought a Bally 831-ZZTH. It is my first machine and it still has a few problems, but I enjoy it already.
With the assistance I located here I have already "fixed" the coin drop problem. Since I couldn't adjust the thickness screw (it was screwed all the way in) I just placed a small piece of paper under the end of it to increase the thickness a little and now it accepts about 95% of the coins I put in.
On to the next step.
My thanks for providing this TREMENDOUS wealth of knowledge.

Hello, noob here with IT background in West Michigan. I just recently bought my first machine, a Bally Alpha S9000 Bullseye Bonus Black Star. I do a lot of automotive related programming, and my curiosity about gaming hardware/software finally got the best of me when this machine popped up locally for a good price. It works well, but I've already begun looking for some software and ordering a Bettor TITO. Shoot me a PM if you might be able to help with a clear card, or other software. I'll be posting more info in a thread on the Alpha Reel Games sub-forum. Thanks!

Howdy from Texas as well! Good to find another slot admirer!  Also looking to start my collection. I've collected assortments of pinball machines over the last few years (I design software/hardware systems for those games) and I am absolutely intent on finishing out my game room with a few slots. Love the WMS BlueBird stuff (top star, reels o dublin, etc). Also love some of the things you find in Class II casinos like the VGT red screen slots, though you don't really ever see those come up for sale.

If anyone knows of places I should be looking for decent deals, let me know! (Right now NLG Classifieds is my primary resource).

Cheers from Texas!

First time poster, been lurking for a few weeks.

My family has a Bally E 2000 series machine that's been sitting in a state of minor disrepair for the better part of the last 20 years, and I've taken it upon myself to do the research an fix it up! It's been a fun project, and I look forward to continuing.

Hello everyone. I joined the site/forum last week and wanted to introduce myself.

I am in the Atlanta Georgia area and received my first slot, a Game King Poker machine, a few weeks ago. Some of my friends asked me why and I said why not.. I always wanted one. I picked this one because of the number of poker games plus blackjack, keno and some slot games, Wolf Run is one of my favorite slot games. A friend of mine found this site and told me about it. I have been enjoying the machine and going through the forum and learning about slot ownership and already thinking I may need another one at some point. I still have to build a base for it and got some ideas from the forum. I will also look to install a TITO option.

I also have a couple of video game systems, one being homemade and another one a bartop system. A pinball addition is somewhere in my future as well.

From going through the forum, I think I have the Super Poker Set...I think. The Game kit version seen in Program Version Accounting is GK003319 and Boot Prom version GKBDEV39

Thanks for the forum and valuable information

So...

Here I am.  I just snagged a pair of IGT slot machines when I wasn't even looking to acquire them, but the opportunity was far too good to pass up.  Long ago (25+ years) I got a Bally 1090 that I still have, so now it has some company!  The new IGTs allegedly did work, but haven't in a while.  (Stop me if that sounds painfully familiar.)  And I found this website while looking for some troubleshooting help.  I've already contributed $10 and downloaded a bunch of files, so hopefully there will be some useful info there.

I realize that "Welcome Wagon" isn't a troubleshooting forum, so I'll just mention a few basic facts: The machines are - from what I've been able to identify so far - "S-2000" models.  No video screens.  One manufactured in 2003, the other in 2004.

Thanks to the people that built this website, and put up this useful forum (even if my son did walk by, look at the screen, and ask me if I fell into an Internet time warp back to the 1990s!)

Welcome Scott
You've come to the right place. Just post in the s2000 section for each machine separately and the guys will jump in. When you post pictures, make sure they're a maximum of 1mb or they'll get rejected.

I suppose I should introduce myself here. I have a history with arcade video game collecting and operating. I recently purchased both a non working IGT PE+ Slant Top Video Poker and a non working Universal Target Scope Quarter Slot Machine. I have been busy restoring them and have recently gotten them both playable. The poker game is fully restored now other than cleaning. The slot still needs repair of the bill validator system, and I need to build a base or something for it.

I am a coin op with a route in northern california. I do all kinds of amusement machines. I find that the skillset require to repair, restore, and maintain arcade and redemption games is quite similar to working with the gambling machines. The hardest part is actually that there is a lot less documentation around the gambling games. That also makes it a lot more fun and satisfying to fix and repair.

I have found this site and the members to be very helpful and knowledgeable. I hope I can one day help others as well.

It's a 20+ year old nickname I have from IRC and Gaming. If you remember 1337 speak it was a thing back in those days. So KaPH33n is kapheen, which is a misspelling of caffeine.

I would be interested in seeing a Bally machine, as I have shopped a few pinballs out. Probably very similar hardware, pcbs, lights, etc.

Hello! Name is Sean, used to be a slot tech at an indian casino from 1995-2008. Am currently self-employed as a slot tech at a northern lake tahoe casino and since we have a lot of older games and after the 10 + YEAR hiatus I'm finding myself looking up things here often so thought I'd join.

New to slots and wife found this site :)

We have 3 IGT S-Plus slot machines, Triple Diamond, Strike and Wild Cherry.

They all need a little work that I plan to tackle my self! First job is to get the handle working on 1 - it's currently locked up.

Good Morning and Welcome to NLG.

Looks to be a IGT S+ with a Good Theme

Off the top the first thing I notice is that the 25C denomination is not lit up.
This usually means that the main power connector on the fixed motherboard is burnt. Its an easy fix.

May I suggest you start a new thread in the IGT S+ section and post some pictures of the insides with the hopper removed, then pull the MPU board (removeable board on a silver tray).
The motherboard is the fixed board that the MPU plugs into - the center connector is likely the one with issues.
Please shut off the machine when pulling hoppers and boards etc.

Well you clearly did not read the basic instructions on slot machine ownership..... we have seen this time and time again.

DO NOT and i repeat DO NOT turn the lights off in your games room. The machines will multiply in the middle of the night.

If you need a lesson on this - please refer to the attached video - there are concequences.

My story isn't too different than anyone else's.

I have a good friend that collects the antique mechanicals from the 20's and 30's, but he also had a nice Bally S6000 Bonus Frenzy machine that I enjoyed playing on Poker nights.

Well, he finally decided that it no longer fit his decor and offered it up for sale. I immediately jumped on it and took it home about a week later once I was able to secure a sturdy enough stand to put it on.

So, that was my first real slot machine. I had a Japanese Pachislo prior to the Bally, but it wasn't nearly the same. As most of you probably already know.

It wasn't long after that I started scouring the classified ads and Craigslist for more machines. I found some basket case machines for a decent price and started learning the restoration process. Mainly S+ and S2000s.

Now it's become my full time hobby and part time job. I've got 10 personal games in my game room and keep 30 or so in storage that I refurbish to sell. It's by far the best hobby I've ever found.

Once I retire from my full time job, I plan on opening a legitimate business and doing it full time. I'm even DOJ certified as a repair facility, which helps me get some good games straight from the casinos.

So, word of caution, if you're not careful, these things will take over your house!

But certainly enjoy it for what it is and whatever it may become.

I’m a little late to this party. I’ve been here a few months and have met some of you already. But I’ll post some info here since I missed it last time.

I just bought my first slot, a Super Spin Sizzling Sevens 25 cent (3 credits) machine. My name is Robert and I’m hoping to learn all I can about these amazing machines. I am somewhat technically inclined, so I think so should catch on quick.

I hope to get another machine in the future. My other hobby is restoring my 1926 Dodge Brothers automobile. I Hope to make friends and interact with you all as I restore my (and hopefully many more) machine.

This is a great forum. One way to learn is simply go to the section where you see your machine type, and start reading posts. There's also an archive site that has a plethora of information as well, especially on the older stuff.  http://newlifegames.net/nlg/ (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/)
I love your old Dodge! We have an "other hobbies" area here too. You're welcome to post your progress there. Maybe I will as well. I just started to "re-restore" my 57 Willys CJ3B that's been sitting in my garage for only 25 years.

It will be Cheaper to buy a machine than the sum of the parts.

Our "good" vendors have banner adds on the home page.
Banner adds are not sold they are given to those who treat NLG members well.

Thanks jay and Stayouttadabunker!

I went straight for the forum ;) I will check those out.

Of course, there is a chance that a complete machine might be cheaper, but as the shipping cost is listed for about USD $800-$1000 just for a machine, plus the machine itself for around USD $700-$900, it is more than I can justify - to you know who - so therefore I'm "splitting up" the costs over a longer period.

There is of course a chance that I could get away cheaper by purchasing it in parts, but normally that is not the case - I know ;)

But thanks guys! Will check the banner ads and vendors!

Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum and to slots in general. After collecting some German machines, I decided to go the Vegas way and now I have 3 different IGT machines. One is already equipped with a bettor tito. The next will be upgraded then I received an ekey 7 which will be delivered tomorrow.  :applause: I hope my machine will say "show chips". If not, is it possible to upgrade a machine to "show chips"?

Hey everyone. New to owning a couple machines. This site is a great resource, and I really appreciate the knowledge that is shared. It has already helped me out so much. Especially with an older machine, which I believe is called a "Treasure Wheel?"  I saved it from being tossed. The owner obtained it and didn't know anything about it. They never used it as it needs some TLC, but they just wanted it gone.

Just stopping into the "welcome" thread to say hello.  I've got a mid-90s IGT PE+ video poker machine I'm working on repairing/restoring.  I bought it in great shape 15+ years ago, but it suffered mightily in a storage unit for years, and now needs lots of TLC to bring it back into shape.
I've been involved with owning & repairing arcade video games (late 70s to late 80s), pinball machines and a jukebox for 20+ years, but this IGT PE+ is my only "gaming" machine.  It seems like NLG is the place for gaming stuff, so I joined up.  I used to be active on "KLOV" (arcade and pinball centric forums) for years, and was on usenet to read and post in rec.games.video.arcade (RGVAC) back before that.  I think it was channelmanic over on KLOV that brought this forum to my attention.

Anyhow, glad to be on board here.  If you're interested, I've got a thread started over in the IGT PE+ forum.
Darren

Great to have you Darren!
Thanks for the introduction. Check out the Bally EM section and you'll likely see some parts that are familiar from the pinball machines.

Hello everyone. I'm new to the scene and the nlg forum seemed like the place to be. Lots of good information here so I decided to join. Just bought 2 IGT s2000 machines (a white ice and a double gold)... First time owner and I'm hooked. I was warned by the guy I bought them from that collecting these machines can be an addictive hobby, I can see why.... First time playing these machines with some friends and I had a reel tilt on one and a cash box error on the other. Thanks to the nlg forums, I got them both fixed in a hurry.. Now looking to add TITO if anyone has suggestion. Sooo much to learn.

Welcome to the forum. I'm a newbie like yourself and agree this is a GREAT forum. I recently installed the Bettor TITO (Jim is a supporting vendor user name BettorSlots) on my sisters IGT GameKing and I am very happy with it. It works great,, was easy to install and their support was excellent. They have 2 models one basic and a Deluxe version that does allot thru WIFI. There is a sticky in the Clissified section that has a comparison chart. Check it out you will love TITO. It makes it allot easier to add credits. You can use the tickets over and over and if you have multiple machines (with TITO) they can all read the ticket.

Great theme to start with....

There are alot of different game kits you can change that machine over to if he gets bored.... see Ricks FAQs and reference the game bible.

One thing that I found after owning machines for years is that people stop playing them if there is no sense of loss/reward.

I run mine off tokens, put a big bucket of tokens next to the machine, people pop in a few then walk away.
Once I started rolling my tokens (like quarters) and handing out a roll - they greedily take this away play their roll and come back looking for more when they are gone.

If you set the %% low enough you can fund your retirement off of his !! (kidding). But what you might want to do is record the coin in/out off of the internal meters and give him a weekly win/loss report.
Makes some good father/son accounting time and conversation.

Welcome Wally, learning the ropes like you. May I suggest looking into the Bettor Slots TITO system (assuming your machine is set up to print tickets). It allows you to read printed tickets through the bill validator. I think it will really add to the experience if your father can print out his tickets to be used again the next time he sits down.. Just my 2 cents. Looking to add one to each of my machines once they are in stock. Check out the posts above yours for links to his site for more info. Good luck!

Good morning everyone! I just picked up a Bally E series slot yesterday and am looking forward to tuning it up and getting it working again (powers on but won't play consistently, the reels don't spin very fast and don't always stop on their own, error code 43). Looks like there are a lot of helpful resources here. I'm going to start with a lube job and making sure the reel mechanism is adjusted correctly.

I have restored some similar machines in the past. I have 2 pinball machines (Williams "Space Mission" and Stern "Big Game"), 3 arcade cabinets (Centipede, Arkanoid, and a Ms Pacman currently plugged in to a multigame board), and 3 pachinko machines (1 fully mechanical and 2 electronic).

This one armed bandit will make a fine edition to my collection. The theme of this machine is pretty bog-standard boring though, so I will probably end up printing new reels and payout information to a more fun Mario theme (I'm thinking the card memory game in SMB3).

Cheers!

Hi,  I am Wingy and I reside in the city of lake effect snow. I am a human slave to an old cat and a bossy parrot.    I have been lurking here for about a year learning about the various machines and their quirks.  Currently my game room just has a William's Darts pinball machine and a 1962 non working console phonograph that will be my winter project.  I am hoping to find a slot or two so that my little game room can start taking shape.

Save up and buy what you really want.  You will spend more if you get another machine now because it is less money but in a few months get what you really want.

I understand.  I still haven't gotten my first machine.  I am finding that sellers can't be bothered responding to Craigslist messages, inquiry forms on their websites or answering the phone.

Hey everyone, just joined after picking up my first two machines today (attached).  The Continental was working as recently as today now won't power on.  I'll be checking out the Bally repair guides, etc., to see what I can find.  The 5c machine works great, it seems to be a Bally 809-ZZB according to the metal plate on the side.

Meanwhile, if someone could PM me the secret number required for registering over at CoinOpCollectorForum, that would be great.  Thanks! Got it :-)

Just checking in so I don't get kicked off as a bot.
Needed to see images/attachments as doing some tune ups on my 10 year old (to me) table top IGT GameKing 3802 board.
Have already replaced the CRT with LCD, buttons, battery, lights and bill detector for new 20's.
Thanks for the site, it has come in handy over the years.

If you have your board number, Ie 3902, software revision, etc that helps.

If you have no idea what we are talking about thats ok -  the guys here are a friendly bunch and can help you find out these things.
Just post in the right section and describe the issues your having....

Hello everyone.  First post here.  I've had a few slots that I have collected over the last few years.    I have a couple Bally s5500, An old Universal, and an IGT s+.  Not a single one of them worked when I got them.  All work now except the S+.  It just needs all the coin in/out parts.  Recently I was fortunate enough to pick up an old Bally 742a em machine dirt cheap.  It also was not working. Within 48 hours I had it up and running. This site has been a great resource of information on all these machines.

Great name! My legal name is Dale, after my father. But I go by "Mark," my middle name.
This is an amazing forum. Poke around the S plus section and you will see a LOT of information on your machine. Many questions can be answered by just reading/browsing though the information. Start with LOOK HERE FIRST, at the top.

As for parts, check with Jim at Midwest, Alan at KLAR, Kristal at Slot Rush. All the vendors are listed at the top of the home page.
You can also post a "want to buy" in our NLG classifieds. Many of our members have a good supply of parts as well.

Hi Everyone! New member and on the hunt for a Zeus Transmissive 5 reel BB2 machine. Hoping for some help and knowledge. Was looking to post a WTB in classified, but not sure how to. There was no "new Topic" button. If anyone could help, that would be amazing! Looking forward to be apart of this community.

Welcome to NLG.
The website is set up so classifieds can only be posted by contributing members, but in cases like yours post your WTB on the Williams section of the forum and one of the moderators will gladly move it to the classifieds for you.
There's a wealth of information here and we are happy to have you.

Thanks for being the best site to help new owners figure out their machine!  I've learned a lot in just a few days.

Got a WMS Blade configured and on the way, and I feel way more confident with this website being here.  Thank you!

And thanks for being a contributing member.  It helps keep the lights on.  It's the best place on the internet for home slot users to find information, help one and another, resolve issues, and find parts.

Glad to have you here and enjoy your machine!

Hello everyone!
My name is Jordan and I am an Utah native currently living in Orlando, Florida. Long story short, I am a man of many hobbies who, by way of a weekly poker game and trying out a couple of pachislo machines, has dove headfirst into learning about slot machine ownership. I’m moving back to UT in June for my medical residency and hoping to pick up my first machine when I get there. I’m part of a great poker chip forum and seems like this community is just as great - can’t wait to learn from you all.

Hello all.  I am new to the site and getting an IGT Hexbreaker, 19" cabinet with a 3902 (I think!) installed, so looking for additional boards and doing a LOT of research.  Seems like a fun hobby.   Post picts and stories when it's officially mine.

Hello Slot Machine God's and goddesses.
I was referred to this site since I recently acquired a lot of new Slot Machine Parts, I honestly don't know exactly what most of them are, most have a Bally SKU #.  Including Screens, Circuit boards, etc. Also, new parts for Shuffle Masters. I will become a paying member ASAP so I can post on Classifieds.  Hopefully I can help out a few people on things they need.

You need to make one more reply here and it will open up for you. We set this up due to some corrupt people joining and offering stuff for sale at "unbelievable" prices... stuff that didn't exist!

Greetings!

My first post as a new member. Recently acquired my first personal machine (a Triple Red, White, & Blue IGT S+!) and figured this'd be a great place to be when I inevitably end up with questions!

Welcome and yes you'll have questions when you get your first error code! This is the best place. The members here are amazing.
And, watch out! These slot machines are known to "multiply" like rabbits and soon you'll have 2,3,4...  :Tongue_Out:

I'm new to the site. Just purchased a Haywire 3 coin, 3 reel. looking forward to the wisdom here. Curious how much money do i have to donate to get to the files? Thanks

 :NLG_WELCOME:

I loved Haywire! I still need to get one, someday.
You can join and stay monthly for $10 a month. But if you just need a few files, you can join just for the month and get access as well.
