Just because I needed 1 more bad thing to happen in 2015 hahaha. So anyway playing my bb1 and game froze. Turned off and back on doesn't load. Tried clear and still won't load. Try clear and new game and new os card and still won't load. The ram clear seems to work fine. I put in a new disk and os and goes through the boot up system and then goes to a black screen. I tried reset key and pushing the button, no change. Where do I go from here?
-
What is the last thing you see before the monitor goes blank?
Is this the same every time you boot?
Is there a power light on your monitor, is it on, amber or green?
-
Light is green on monitor. It goes through the whole boot up sequence then goes black every time. The clear goes to end like normal
-
The last thing the machine says is,

The last thing the machine says is,
Interesting, no errors as to why the boot has stopped?
Maybe someone can chime in if they have seen this before?
-
Nothing that I saw. It looks like it's going through the normal boot up sequence. Just confusing because it looked like the clear worked, looks like the game is booting up like normal. But just goes blank. Nothing was touched, nothing was bumped. The game was perfectly fine then froze. Turned off and on and that's what happened. Thought maybe a os or game card went bad, but tried a different game and no change.
-
Still no luck. Anything that I'm missing here? Any ideas where to start?
-
Try re-seating the board. Raise the lever on the bottom right side of the board. Watch the board actually raise up about an 1/8". Then put some weight on top of it pushing it back down, hard left, hard right, hard middle...make sure its good and seated. Try a full clear again then load game.

If you have another bb1, I would swap the RAM Memory Module. It looks like the game hangs and/or crashes while loading the Game Manager. Typically it is a memory issue (the video memory is shared with main memory in these systems) or you could also have a video card issue (which is all part of the cpu module). I believe the memory is a DDR 512MB module, which should be cheap enough to acquire to test out if you don't have another bb1 mpu to try.

Checked all connections and did another clear, call attendant popped up turned the reset key and got this message
-
Post the Game, OS, and Bios chip numbers you are using.
-
Tried jackpot party with 1490, invaders from the planet moolah with 1850.. can't read the number on chip. I've had the machine almost 2 years never had a problem before this. Where is the ram module?
-
It is the module inside the red rectangle in the picture below.
-
For whatever it's worth, could funky batteries cause something like this? Might try new just to see.
Thanks,
Jason

Are you running an NXT 1 or NXT 2?
-
Nxt1. I'm gonna try and borrow parts from a friend and see what the problem is
-
Seems like something lost communication. Do you have an extra bet button?
-
Standard deck. Like I said machine was playing and froze. Thought maybe a bad connection from opening the door. The clear works just fine. Still waiting on my friend to see if I can borrow parts.
-
Look into the pic attached and chant B-B-2..B-B-2..B-B-2.. (Or substitute B-B-2 with N-X-T-2, either way will work)
Then call me and we'll fix ya up! :cool_thumb_up:

Taxes are coming! I'm sure I'll need a new toy
-
:cool_thumb_up:
Seriously though, hope that can be fixed easily. Wish I had a BB1 MPU for you to test etc.
-
Swapped out the card no change. Tried another clear that also didn't help or change anything. Any suggestions or ideas?
-
At this point, I would borrow a friend's MPU and try it. You may have a bad adastra board at this point (the CPU module in the MPU box). Sometimes caps also go bad in the mpu and cause issues. MPU's are plentiful to get now and are reasonable. The prefereable way before you spend money, would be to borrow a good known mpu and have a go at it.
-
Well just found out he sold the machine. So no spare mpu to test. If the mpu is bad would it do the ram clear without any problems?
-
Yes, it is possible.
-
I'll try clearing it again. A message popped up and forgot what it said. Something about a error and to turn the key to restart.
