BV power source????
« on: May 25, 2022, 10:57:35 AM »
Hi folks....   Question regarding an IGT Red White Blue - S-2000 machine has a DBV200 but I don't see a power supply for the bill validator anywhere in the machine.  Someone monkeyed with it before me, and I'm unsure if these machines have a port on the motherboard for DBV power?  Or are all the BV installations supposed to have a dedicated / stand alone power supply ?   Where do the power supplies attach?  I have a manual that shows som parts breakdowns, but no specific mention of this anywhere.

Thanks!!

Bruce

S2000 does not have a dedicated power supply for the BV. S2000 usually have a WBA or MEI.     S+ has a dedicated power supply for DBV200. Can you post a picture of the inside and outside of your machine?

Thanks for your reply.  I went to the customer home and sorted it out.  I found the power supply when I opened the top light box to see why the lamp wasn't working.  Someone had disconnected the power supply for the DBV and stored it in the upper light box!  This for unknown reasons.  I reinstalled it, installed a new memory battery, and the machine works now, including the DBV.  Go figure why someone tore it apart?

Unrelated - but on same machine, EVERY single cam lock has been removed and is missing.  No locks anywhere.  Customer wants new cam locks on front door only.  it has one for the front light access window, and one for the door latch.  I'm unsure on the barrel length or on cam length.  I wish I had one to compare.

Not sure which lock assembly you want?  The lock to keep the main front door locked?  Or the belly glass door?   I have some.

Casino workers usually remove the locks when the machine is removed from the gaming floors.
I've often seen the cams inside the machine kept together on a plastic zip tie.
When you say the "front light access window", I'm assuming you mean the belly glass door?
An S2000 main door latch uses a lock and cam as in the picture below...>>>

Yes, the belly glass lock
and the main door lock.  I have over 30 years experience on jukeboxes, but only a few years under my belt on slots.  Much of the machine terminology is still soaking into my brain, and it isn't nearly as absorbent as it once was!

Thanks for the help, all.  Customer want's to replace all locks himself with parts from big box store.   Whatever.. .  Probably will have to drill them out someday when he can't find the keys.

Just some color cometary on this thread.....

Depending on where the machine came from and age - some states dictate that the machine must be permanently disabled from accepting currency.
So changing the coin comparator to tokens is often not enough and they rip these out and put in a token based imonex (mechanical coin in). The validator is not just disabled but the power supply is removed.

Permanently is also a very loose term as these machines are well built and easy to bring back to full operational state.

Per the locks - most casinos would key the majority of their machines to the same locks and keep tight control on the keys; thus their desire to pull the locks so the key to all the machines in the Bellagio is not out in the wild. This of course is backed up by the player tracking systems which have a security component so the back office become very aware when a door is open.
If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.
