Title: New Slot owner with questions
Post by: Brandon101884 on October 20, 2018, 01:13:05 PM
Hey everyone!

I’m a new IGT owner, if I’ve read here correctly I believe I have an S+ model. I bought this about a week ago at a pretty discounted price. The handle is and has been stuck in the down position. Previous owner had no clue. Today I went inside of the machine to see if it was something obvious. Once back there I noticed a bunch of thick stick... something. This stuff was everywhere in that back corner. Not only that but I found two springs and a bunch of other random parts laying there covered in that goup. Well, I pulled off the reel and the box that was on the inside. When I opened it up there was more of that stuff, and random parts fell out. Does anyone have an idea as to how this all goes back together, or will I be better off buying a new reel assembly? I figured I would check before cleaning this stuff off. Thanks for the help y’all!

Welcome to NLG. You can snap a pic of your machine and post it on a reply (use the attachment tab at the bottom) and we can tell you for sure what you have. On the home page, there is a list of vendors and most of them can sell you the arm assembly. Personally, I would buy one and go through the old one when I had time. If you get that one fixed, then you'll have a spare.

Nice looking machine. And you are right an S+. Congrats. Is everything working okay except the arm? If so, that's even better.

So far everything else works like a charm. This thing is pretty awesome. I think when I order the arm I’ll also get a bill acceptor

Your bill acceptor housing currently is for DBV200. You are missing the transport,  head, and duck bill . Not sure if your cash can is missing as well?  Being there is so much missing you may want to convert it to a WBA system which is much better setup. You need the bezel assembly for the door also.

Cash can is actually there. I had no idea I was missing so much. What is the WBA setup?

Anyone have a front picture of their Sizzling 7, I’d like to get a look at what the Bezel looks like.

The bill validator cabinet bezel looks the same as any other s+ machine.  There are two different ones though, one is wider. That hole in cabinet is wider on some s+'s.  I think yours has the narrower one.  The wider opening is better for a WBA setup.

I ordered a new reel last week that came in Monday and I installed the same day. It works great. Every now and then the reel pulls and nothing happens. I can deal with that.

Every now and then the Nickles won’t dispense and I get an error code. I open the door, move then around a little and then they come out. Is that a knife issue?

No, knife issue will give jams, you probably just need to keep more nickels in the hopper.  The rubber agitator in the center(looks like a star with 3 points) may be worn out.  Easy to replace.

I ran into a couple of new issues today. The first being the reel. Sometimes when you pull it nothing happens. You can continue to pull it until it works. It doesn’t always happen, but it is frequent.

The second possible issue is this new humming sound. At first I thought a bulb was about to burn out but it seems as if the sound is coming from this black box, it’s also pretty hot. Normal?

When you say pull it I’m guess your referring to the handle? There is a switch located on the handles gearbox that closes when the handle pulled. It could be going bad. As for that black box, that’s the light ballast. I have hear of them making a humming noise before. They can be found at stores like Hime Depot, Lowe’s, and Ace Hardware stores. Just about any place that has an electrical department. They do come in different sizes or for bulb sizes. They usually have that information on the ballast

I’m assuming you aren’t talking about the microswitch?

Yes the micro switch. When that closes the reel spin. If that switch fails or is damaged it could be causing your problem. Is this a IGT S+ or S slot machine?

I noticed something weird. I went to swap the microswitch but decided to test it out while I had it free. So I had my hand in the bill acceptor home and the microswitch in hand, I put the money in and pushed the switch. It worked. I did this a bunch of times with no issue.. hmmm. I decided to swap the switch out anyway, that’s a lot of work getting all of that crap taken out. So, I put the new switch in and tested it the same was as the old one, worked fine. I assembled everything and went to try it out. It was doing the same thing, pull the handle and nothing. I looked on the back and saw one of the non used connections of the microswitch was touching the rear of the coin door. I thought, maybe that’s interfering somehow? Then I thought I was nuts but remembered it was working fine without the bill box inside. So, I took a screwdriver and bent it up so it wasn’t making contact. Well, it hasn’t done it since. I’m really hoping it was that simple.

Doesn’t take much. Sounds like you had a low voltage short causing a problem with the handle circuit. You could alway put a piece of tape on the back of the bill acceptor to use as an insulator.

Next up for replacement is the agitator. Hopefully that fixes the jams.

Check the condition of the hopper knife. It needs to sit flat against the hopper coin wheel. Also make sure that the wiper only allow one coin to pass under it at a time.

Quick update on the reel

It’s been several days since I replaced the entire reel setup then found the microswitch issue. Everything has been working fine since the fix. I appreciate all the help. This is definitely a new addiction... I’m already on the hunt for a second machine

Thanks for the update. The switch grounding on your cash can housing hade to be the issue.

And so it begins, another person whose machine will magically multiply overnight!  It's like a potato chip, you can't have just one.
