Title: BillVal Stacker Open Error
Post by: Arcadium on July 18, 2022, 11:15:05 AM
I'm getting the BillVal Stacker Open error.  The green and yellow LEDs on the validator (MEI Cashflow SC) are blinking.  I have checked the cash can for contact with the rear switch and actuator switches to the board.  I cleaned off the two lenses on the cash can and the validator.  I tried pushing the cash can upwards to help with contact as other forum topics suggested but still nothing.  What can I do next short of replacing the cash can and bill acceptor.

sometimes it is the little control board that goes bad and causes that issue.  The easy way to diagnose it is to swap head and can to see if the error goes away.  If you don't have any spares (and you should while the parts for that are still available easily), maybe you have a friend locally who can test your parts in his machine?

Thanks for the reply.  I do not have spare parts nor do I have anyone local to ask, sorry.  If you can think of anything else I can do to diagnose it please let me know.

Does the head make noises when you put the stacker in?  What about the bill validator door, is it jumpered?

Stacker open error is the cash can door switch. Bypass it.

I don't remember the error codes by the colors of the LEDs on the head , but a dirty cash can cause issues because the internals of the cash can has light pipes which is the optics to the head. Smoke and dust blocks the light . The cash can is all plastic. Take the yellow plunger plate and the large spring out of the inside. Then remove the 2 screws and the rest of the guts will come out. Wash with mild soap the clear plastic parts and the entire inside of the box as there is two small light pipe segments mounted in there. Blow dry it with air hose.
