Title: WMS BB NO SIGNAL on both screens
Post by: rapidroy on August 28, 2022, 08:49:26 AM
Hi All
my friends BB died one day and now when turned on the screen displays the NO SIGNAL he did say the display was looking like it was shaking days before it went out. All the power lights are lit on the boards so I was thinking it was the video card. but i dont know where it is. I think its behind the HD? any pictures would be of great help. and where to get a video card if thats what is needed.

If you remove the hard drive plastic caddy the video card is under it.  It is MxM type video card, they can be expensive if bought by themselves, expect to pay around $100 or so if you can find one.  It is probably a lot easier to find and buy a known working mpu for about $200-$300 depending on your luck.

is the video card a good assumption or is there something else to look at.

Video cards on these are a common failure point, especially on mpu's that haven't had the correc airflow cooling off the video card.  But the adastra board on these fails as well (that's the other board with the cpu and the memory on it).  Only way to know is to replace the parts to see which one has failed.  If you don't have spare mpu (or the owner doesn't), I would suggest getting one while they are cheap and relatively easy to find, because parts will eventually dry up and if you don't have spares, fixing them will cost a lot more.
