Title: Help Troubleshooting Igt Red White Blue Slot
Post by: Booboo8008 on September 12, 2022, 02:26:00 PM
I'm hoping someone could help me out. I acquired the machine from my uncle that passed. Model number is B5131CF0 from 9/93. It lights up. Everytime I hit the on and off switch inside in lights up something new, then it starts up the coin hopper. That's as far as it goes. It is not throwing any error codes. Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you

It may be in the middle of a payout. Keep adding coins to hopper until it stops paying out coins.

Both the winner paid and the credits will only show something for a split second when first turning on the machine. So no the credits or winner paid does not rack up

Open the door, slide the hopper out and take a picture of the inside of your machine, and post it up here.
From there we can help you some more.

I think your power supply harness to the motherboard is faulty....but I need to see which model you have.

Okay...below I've attached a photo which shows an arrow pointing at the main motherboard 6-pin power connector.
The white plastic connector housing is called a Molex.
Pull it straight up and off of the male pins that are on the motherboard circuit board on the floor of the cabinet.
Turn the Molex connector around and shoot a photo of it.
You may see one or two pins that have "browned out" the plastic housing.
This indicates that the female pins inside the Molex are becoming loose and micro-arcing inside the connector onto the male pins, leaving over-heated brown burn marks.
If you have these burn marks, you need to replace that power harness or the female trifurcon pins inside the Molex.
For many, it is much easier to just place a WTB ad in the Classifieds section of NLG for a power harness or get one offa ebay.
Others that have soldering skills and the proper tools, replace the pins themselves.

What I've said above doesn't really concern why you have a runaway coin hopper though.
Fixing the power harness however, will make your display light up correctly and from there we can determine why your hopper needs to run.

Looking at your board picture, I can see that the SP chip is in backwards!  the solid white line should be facing the way the chip next to it is!

Hopefully it didn't damage the chip.

start there first and see what happens.

So... I checked the white plastic connector looks to be good with no burn marks. Moved the chip so it is the right way.  Maybe that was causing different things to light up each time I turned it on? Now I have nothing on display on winner paid, credits, coins played.

That very well could have fried the SP chip.

Replaced the chip and same thing. No winners paid, credits, coins played working or lighting up. They did come on when chip was in the wrong way but only when you kept hitting the on and off switch.
