Title: S2000 Press test switch.....Nothing?
Post by: stoosh on September 13, 2022, 02:43:30 PM
Hello,

s2000 noob here, Ive read most of the post pertaining to "Press test switch" and don't see this issue addressed so I am asking for help.

I got a used S2000 Tripple Zesty Peppers game that had a ram error, after clearing that normally I got a low battery warning. I replaced the fixed coin battery with a lithium 3.6V and restarted the machine.

after clearing errors I get to the "Press test switch for 2-3 seconds" and when I do that nothing happens? usually I should get a close door, but not this time, its stuck here. I have reset it a few times, even changed the battery. it has a good 3.6 volts.

Thank you for any help with this, I am stuck, here are some photos of the board.  :Scratch-Head:

There is a trace under the coin cell that I've seen people damage changing batteries and stop the reset switch from working. I can see some possible damage.
Also, you need to remove that Varta battery. It may already be causing problems. Don't replace it.

Yes, sir, looks like I ruined that board, I cant see a way to repair that trace..... Not even sure how I did that? But there is a definite groove cut into the board, right through the trace.

thank you for your observation.

Well I cant leave a challenge alone, so I fixed the trace using a single piece of stranded wire and lots of patience. I know its ugly, but I saved a board and it works so I am happy with myself.

Thanks again, here is a picture of the trace repair and I also removed the Varta.

Nobody having fun playing the machine can see how ugly the trace repair is!  :rotfl:
