Hi Gang
Same Old Story.......
The BV does not cycle at startup or self-test.
NetPlex auto-config does not mention BV when run.
Accounting Diagnostics correctly identifies it as WBA12/13 3.80-34
All connections seem to be tight.
Next step?

Does it have a 1x head? A 2x head will not work.

Thanks Ron
Not sure how to tell. I have two, one is labeled USA-501-03-15, the other USA-501-24

Spend the $30 to $40 for a known working validator from a reputable source, if it works in your machines then you know your other validators are trashed or have the wrong firmware on them. Shipping a validator back and forth at today's rates is probably not cost efficient unless you have several or can go locally to get them fixed if at all possible. If you don't want to spend the money, get a tito board and configure the machine for free play.
I also have no idea about a 1x or 2x head, first time I've ever heard of that.

If you ran the stand alone test and it failed, then the unit is defective. check to see the two red LEDS are on, located above the switches, make sure all switches are up,
if you have a working WBA, interchange the heads and see what happens, and vice-versa.
that should eliminate something and let you know where the problem is.
Hope this helps

Since the announcement of the chip shortage for bill units, they have increased in price, look at some of the prices for these on ebay and spin.

Wholly molly!!! Should have stashed some!
Spin inc has some transports with s2000 software with no head for $37.50. The heads are going for crazy money.

1x= 10, 11, 12, 13 for USA currency
2x- 20, 21, 22, 23 for Canadian and probably some other international currency.
22, 23 transports are fine if you flash or chip them with USA 12/13 firmware but the heads do not work for USA currency and if I remember correctly will cause the BV to not even cycle.

Ah, now it makes sense. Do the 2x head basically just lack the magnetic reader inside the head (silver rectangular device in the middle of the head)?
-
That is correct if I remember correctly. It has been a while since I had one.
-
How do you tell the 1x head from the 2x?
-
If it isn't labeled, open it and look. 3 magnetic heads is a USA model. 2 outers are rounded and the center one is flat.

Both are USA

Update
Self-Test works correctly.
I did not note that the micro switches were installed upside down making 1,2,3 R to L, and not L to R.
A reminder, when I run NetPlex autoconfig, it does not say anything about the BV. However, it does show up correctly under Accounting menu. It does not cycle at power up.
Now what to check next?
Thanks!

If self test works, but still doesn't cycle, my best guess at this point is you don't have the correct firmware on the transport. Pull the transport out and look under where the PCB is with the chips, sometimes there's a sticker on the flash chip (Big rectangular chip in the middle). Techs will pull validators out of any machine when the machine leaves the casino so it qualifies as parts complete, a lot of times you get mismatched validators with machines.

Hey Rick
Firmware is correct as verified by Accounting Menu 024 3.80-24
