Title: Epic 950 Printer
Post by: Michael33881 on January 26, 2024, 06:30:29 AM
Epic 950 printer front rollers not activating.

Before I order parts I just want to run the situation by the group.

Put ticket in to feed and the rollers activate to take the ticket but the front rollers do not activate causing a fault light.   I took everything apart and cleaned the sensors and I flipped the motor connections to see if maybe the motor stopped working for the front that kicks out the ticket.   Tested and when I put a ticket into the feed the front motor activated so motor is good.

After I took everything apart and cleaned it and tested it worked great a few times but stopped working again.   Would this be a possible failed burst sensor or is the board going bad?   Before it stopped working all together when printing a ticket it was hard to pull out the ticket like it didn't roll it out all the way so I am thinking sensor.

Thanks!

Those are out for sale pretty cheap here and there.
Probably because they're way past their lifetime expectancy.
I'd pick up another one for parts and swap stuff.
Here's a pdf sheet on it...>>>

Ever see that movie Money Pit?  That is how I feel with this machine I bought.  Was hoping it would be a 13.00 sensor vs a 60-100.00 printer.   PS the fans came that you recommended and the machine is nice and quiet and no longer sounds like a jet plane.

Just have to be a bit smarter and more knowledgeable when buying used machines.  :cool_thumb_up:
You're that guy that walked into the used car parking lot, and the greaseball salesman was just seeing dollar   :money: :money: signs when you asked him  :drool04:   about the machine.
He knew the tranny was mis-shifting, you didn't....don't be THAT guy!  :rotfl:

He talked a great game on how they "clean" every machine and test everything to make sure it is in fully operational condition.   Well it was until it got home and used for a few days and you start to see things they didn't do.    Here is a great example.  The Oled panel worked but 3 days later all the screen went black.  He said this machine came with a warranty if anything should go wrong.  I reached out and sent photos and his response was do you turn this machine on and off?  I replied and said yes because I do not want to hear the jet plane running all night long.  He told me that turning it on and off caused the Oled to stop working and that isn't covered.  I told him about the missing fan from the CPU and sent photos and I sent photos of the clogged fans and the one that was frozen.  He didn't like that I called him out on the work and now blocked.   OH WELL

Ouch!
Obviously, your mistake was NOT doing your homework and pointing out the problems with the machine - while being AT the store.

Ever hear the expression, "Fool me once..." ?  :Tongue_Out:

Expensive lesson learned...btw...OLED button deck...what did you get from him?
I might be able to help you obtain new OLED screen replacements.

I don't think I made a mistake buying the machine because the condition of the cabinet is in mint condition which can be hard to find.   Few things yes I missed but it's been 7 years since I owned a BB machine and just didn't think about at the time .  I tell you this past week all the knowledge I thought was lost is coming back it's like riding a bike.   If you know a good place to buy the OLED's let me know.   For now I plan on printing off my own labels and putting them over the dead screens.  The lights still work and I bought the standard button panel and backpane harness because I have games that do not use OLED.  The OLED is on the bottom of the list until I upgrade to the NXT 3.2 cpu and games later down the road.
