Title: Error code 83-9 (Bally ProSlot 6000)
Post by: 4cheddar on March 25, 2015, 04:34:02 PM
After a partial safe ram clear, I'm getting a error code 83-9 which = Bill Record. Does anyone know what that means and how to get it removed?

Thank you

83 is a ram problem, do a complete clear and you should be fine as long as your battery is good.

Thanks Los Pollos,

I did a complete clear and it did remove the 83-9 code but replaced it with a code 31 error (coin-out hopper jam) Problem is I don't have a hopper. Is it looking for one and can it be disabled under machine options?

If you don't have a hopper you need to jumper the plug as shown.

If you don't have a hopper you need to jumper the plug as shown.

A friend of mine in interested in doing this, does this work on other Bally models?

(I lightened & enlarged the photos so I could see them better)

In the 11d menu change 61 to 0002 also make sure 81 is 0000

I made the jumpers for the hopper plug which did remove the code 31 error. I did another clear, changed machine option 61 from (0001) to 0002=printer only and option 81 from (0001) to 0000=no coin acceptor.

Everything lights up after doing the clear and once the reels calibrate, i get two dots in the win paid display, a zero in the credit and credit in display but no buttons light up and the bill validator will not accept any bills??

The 2 dots are just saying that the machine has been off. They will go away after 2 spins. The 0 is what you want to see. in a perfect world  your machine should be working now. hope someone else has a thought.

Yes I was hopeful that fixed it. Also the candle is lit up solid, no blinking

As far as the candle, have you pushed the button to see if it's just turned on for change? Tried to insert bills to play it? Checked all plugs on door harness to make sure they are in and snug?

check to see if the bill acceptor/transport has a chip in the bottom and its installed correctly with no broken pins.....Also follow the wiring harness from the bill acceptor chassis, one set should go to the back circuit board behind the reels and one should plug into a square plug going to the cash box below.

also with the power on open the door and push the pseudo button a few times on the MPU if you hear the "dings" and the spin button lights up most likely your problem is the bill acceptor. if the spin button does light up you can hit the button to test the reels.

I have tried all buttons, plugs and bill acceptor. The wires circled in the picture, would they just be for another button or maybe they plugged into the coin acceptor when it was used?

The wire harness behind the bill acceptor looked good, I did find two wires that come off of the plug that don't seem to go anywhere. The chip on the bill acceptor looked good also.

I'm going to run through some diagnostic tests and see what that shows.

Thanks for the suggestions:)

The pseudo button did add credits, light the spin button, ding and spin the reels. After closing the door the bill acceptor does it's cycle and then back to where we started.

Still working on tests, thank you Los Pollos

pull the bill acceptor out and look through the right side and see if all the dip switches are in the up position.

12 hours later and still nothing, but she is the cleanest non-working machine. I ran every diagnostic test and everything works as it should, during the test. When I exit and close the door, the reels spin, bill acceptor cycles and the candle light goes solid. No buttons are lit, bill acceptor will not accept a bill, win paid shows two dots, credit and coin in show a zero.

If anyone has any ideas not mentioned, post your suggestion. At this stage I'll try anything!

Thanks

bill acceptor switches are ok, when you say the candle light stays on solid, is that both the upper and lower light ?

if top and bottom candle lights are on solid the machine is trying to communicate with the "host".....aka the casino network....then the problem is most likely with your setting.

When the door is open, the candle will blink. Right after the bill acceptor cycles, the candle goes solid, upper and lower

When I was tracing wires and looking in the top glass area, I was wondering if whatever equipment was in there might be causing the problem. All that was in there besides the lights was a power supply that said Bally's on it...maybe part of the player tracking, telephone cable going to the player card slot and LED screen, and a few harnesses going nowhere. The lights around the player card spot and LED do not come on at all.

If trying to communicate with the host were the case, wouldn't there be a number code showing a error or is the candle lighting up the error notification? Do you know where the settings for that would be?
