So, you followed the instructions of tying the two coin in signal wires to a front panel switch to simulate a coin in for free play but if you hold the button down to long you get a coin in error and have to do a reset.
The next step is to put a sticker on the front of the game, under the button, warning 'TAP QUICKLY!!" which helps but still causes random coin in tilts.
Here is a jankey, low tech, design I came up with to solve that problem. It uses a couple of PCB mount 12VDC relays and some electronics so you can adjust the coin in pulse width to get a valid vend every time.
If you hold the coin in button down there is no coin in timeout, you get one pulse and done until you release the button and press it again.
